telkomsa.net (South Africa)
Does anyone know if there is a problem with this domain? I sent out some emails last night to friends with @telkomsa.net addresses and they have all come back with the same error message :
I could understand if it was just one, but that all 5 came back seems odd. Is there anyone out there who is on this domain and is aware of problems?
Sorry, we were unable to deliver your message to the following address.

Capetonian,
Strongly implies that there are "no problems with the domain", ie. the routing appears to be getting there, but it is "their" server that's saying "go away".
Based on that message, any issues are likely to be localised to the ISP's servers (i.e. maybe there were some fat-fingered configuration changes).
Ask the people you are sending to to give the ISP support desk a call.

Thanks guys. I've sent separate short emails to each address now, no attachment and not multiple addresses, and am waiting to see if they are rejected too.
Update, they all came back with the same reject message.

Hi Capetonian
Yes, also on Telkomsa.net
I leave my Outlook Express on the home PC open during the day so that it can download messages during the day, the last time it was able to connect was just after 12:00 sometime yesterday, not been able to connect since, even this morning before leaving for work.
Internet, also provided by Telkom, works fine though

So it looks as if there is a temporary problem on telkomsa.net then?
I resent the messages from my gmail account and they came back immediately with a different error message:

It's a Telkom problem - sometime late this morning:
Not being reported in local Press, but Eye Witness News carried this story in this afternoon's news reports:
Being that it's Silly Season in this part of the world, don't hold your breath for a quick fix (!)

Businesses hard hit by Telkom internet problems
Zaida Gangat | 13h46
Telkom’s authentication services were down on Thursday affecting internet access for many people around South Africa.
Eyewitness News was inundated with irritated users who said they were unable to access their internet service for several hours.
One business owner said it was affecting his business.
“You cannot access the internet at all, which means you can’t trade, you can’t get your emails, you can’t do electronic banking, you can do absolutely nothing,” he said. “It’s affecting businesses countrywide.”
Telkom said it is aware of the problem and added that it is addressing the problem.

Thanks for this, wasn't aware of it. Have just sent my emails again with following added.
... and 2 out of 5 came back!
As Telkom seem to have had a problem yesterday and all the emails I sent to @telkomsa.net were bounced, I'm trying nog 'n weer.

Well - at least that's a 60% success rate (which I guess is OK as long as you're not trying to land a plane!)
I suspect that Telkom are still struggling to complete their recovery process (as you will well know, this isn't the most productive time in the S'African calender!). Nothing further about this in the local press.
