Recent Items

I use Vista and have a problem with the Recent Items list. A few days ago it got "stuck". It has a list of files in it, if I delete manually it deletes the actual file and any new files I open are not added to the list. I've used Spybot to try clearing everything out. Any ideas appreciated.

Blimey, nearly 4 hours and nobody has any ideas? Being a technophobe i'm stumped, any pointers greatly appreciated.
