Question Setting up a network?

Was given a 486 with an ethernet card in it, my laptop has one and I bought the cable to connect the 2 (crossover type for a peer to peer). The 486 has Win95, my laptop has Win98.

But now WTF do I do? Any suggestions, O' knowledgeable ones?

Ta,

The help you need depends on your experience and background, of course, but here's a place to start (URL below). You may have to use your judgement about the laptop network card and how to connect the cable to it - this page deals with 2 desktop computers, but it "shouldn't be too hard" - there may be some minor variations in the prompts as well, depending on your version of Windoze. Good luck.

Thanks, Narada,

It was the software setup that was getting to me. Even after fiddling with bindings & protocols etc.

The website looks like what I needed.
Now to play sillybuggers with network settings...
