Setting up a network?
Was given a 486 with an ethernet card in it, my laptop has one and I bought the cable to connect the 2 (crossover type for a peer to peer). The 486 has Win95, my laptop has Win98.
But now WTF do I do? Any suggestions, O' knowledgeable ones? Ta, Tinstaafl |
The help you need depends on your experience and background, of course, but here's a place to start (URL below). You may have to use your judgement about the laptop network card and how to connect the cable to it - this page deals with 2 desktop computers, but it "shouldn't be too hard" :) - there may be some minor variations in the prompts as well, depending on your version of Windoze. Good luck. http://www.duxcw.com/digest/Howto/ne...t2pc/intro.htm [This message has been edited by Narada (edited 03 December 1999).] |
Thanks, Narada,
It was the software setup that was getting to me. Even after fiddling with bindings & protocols etc. The website looks like what I needed. Now to play sillybuggers with network settings... |
