SET 18, I had the feeling you weren't after aviation related sites necessarily. Here's a few of my favourites;
If you're a movie fan, you'll already know about <a href="http://www.imdb.com" target="_blank">www.imdb.com</a> , the one site apart from Pprune I'd insist on for the desert island.
For the real truth about those incredible stories you hear, <a href="http://www.snopes.com" target="_blank">www.snopes.com</a> or <a href="http://www.urbanlegends.com" target="_blank">www.urbanlegends.com</a>
For music, <a href="http://www.allmusic.com" target="_blank">www.allmusic.com</a>
<a href="http://www.biography.com" target="_blank">www.biography.com</a> for, well, you guessed it!
<a href="http://www.tvgohome.com" target="_blank">www.tvgohome.com</a> for an offbeat satirical look at TV.
<a href="http://www.theonion.com" target="_blank">www.theonion.com</a> for the best satirical site on the net.
<a href="http://www.dictionary.com" target="_blank">www.dictionary.com</a> for English usage
and <a href="http://www.libraryspot.com" target="_blank">www.libraryspot.com</a> provides a heap of information about all sorts of things; one of those sites you can spend hours in, if you like that sort of thing of course!

<a href="http://www.dogpile.com" target="_blank">www.dogpile.com</a> - despite the name its one of the best search engines around.
<a href="http://www.rin.org.uk" target="_blank">www.rin.org.uk</a> - if getting from A to B is very important to you.
<a href="http://www.fool.co.uk" target="_blank">www.fool.co.uk</a> - if you are sick of "Independent Financial Advisors"

Time Synchronization Software
A while back there was a brief discussion re utilities to synch the PC clock with inter/national timeservers.
<a href="http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~ntp/software/win9x.html" target="_blank">http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~ntp/software/win9x.html</a> has an exhaustive list of about 40 of theset with brief reviews and pointers.
The public domain synch software from the National Institute of Standards (nistime-32bit.exe) found at <a href="http://www.boulder.nist.gov/timefreq/service/its.htm" target="_blank">http://www.boulder.nist.gov/timefreq/service/its.htm</a> sounds good and costs nothing [you can get it directly from <a href="ftp://time-b.nist.gov/pub/daytime/]" target="_blank">ftp://time-b.nist.gov/pub/daytime/]</a>
If I'd known I wouldn't have forked out for the software I use.

Sometimes it's embarrassing to post the obvious, but just in case you've somehow missed it; <a href="http://www.webshots.com" target="_blank">www.webshots.com</a>
Paxing All Over The World
I hope that you don't have to do this very often ...
<a href="http://www.sleepinginairports.net/" target="_blank">Sleeping In Airports</a>
This will probably be known to some:
<a href="http://www.quickaid.com/airports/" target="_blank">Airport Home Pages</a>
This is a UK online shop for pocket tools, all the famous brands. I buy them as gifts, NEVER for myself of course ...
<a href="http://www.heinnie.com/" target="_blank">Heinnie's Shop</a>
This is neat and should fascinate children. When the little darlings won't stop asking, "But how does it work?" send them to
<a href="http://www.howstuffworks.com/" target="_blank">How Stuff Works</a>
I looked through my list of 'places to surf when tired and needing to unwind' but I feared that Captain Pprune might divert to the nearest field and have me un-voluntarily offloaded <img src="rolleyes.gif" border="0">
So here's one that folks really like

For a search engine that can search through all the other earch engines without having to manually do it and sit there for hours - this is the best I have seen so far. It even has a resume function.
