24/7 ISP

This is an info for UK based people with subscription to PLUS NET....
Since I was a customer with this ISP before the 24/7 has been introduced, I continued with them and changed my account to a 24/7 very happily.
Not even a year has passed and now the nasty bits start....at 9 pm received an email (automatically generated) that my account would be deleted by midnight as I am not using the connection "in a fairly" manner and this service was "never supposed to be a 24/7 unmetered service"...
Well here we go, website lost, mail adresses lost, a big hassle to re-arange everything again.
The reason behind this email I tried to discover from the helpdesk, "Cannot comment...will automatically disconnect....management decision....no reconnection possible....paid and metered line at any time possible....250 MB download acceptable within 24 hours, your account shows 15 MB within 13 hours today..."
Why I post this? Had a few days off and used the 24/7 service for approximately 16 hours a day within the last 4 days, it may happen to anyone, so watch out!

Bad luck! If you've got a BT line, come over to BT Internet Anytime. Just started up and working well. Cost £14.99 per month total cost.
Downside is Web space limited to 10MB (should be enough for most) and auto-disconnect after two hours. But immediate reconnect possible.
Your Plus Net probably used the BT servers anyway.
Funny lot!

FL310, you are in good company. Danny Fyne was until this morning also a Plusnet user. He has also had his account terminated. Danny forwarded to me the email he received, no valid reason for terminating his account was given.

FL310, as an ex-Plusnet customer, you might find the following site amusing.

Just a thought. What about copying this thread with the links above to PlusNet's major advertisers.
And The Consumers' Association and The Office of Fair Trading might be interested.

More on the plus.net saga :
They have just massively reduced the number of ports available. This means that those poor sods who didn't get kicked off (such as myself) now can't connect anyway. I spent an hour trying to, then eventually connected with a ukgateway.net account I have.
I looked at plus.net's forums and found out what the problem is. Interested parties who want to see how not to run an ISP can go to www.plus.net and click on "Discussion Forums". Pretty, it's not.
I'm now using btinternet.com
