PPRuNe the Netscape Slayer
PPRuNe seems to have recently started confusing netscape so much that I have to kill it and restart to get back online. Until now it has taken a half hour or so to collapse, but this morning I was unable to access the bulletin boards at all before netscape became comatose. No other websites cause problems, and I can access PPRuNe fine using konqueror on my laptop (which is why I'm here now...)
I remember we had some problems with a certain advert a little while ago, but I'm not sure if that's the problem now. Anyone else got problems? Any ideas?
FWIW, Java is turned ON, javascript OFF at the moment.

Try turning javascript on. I think the BB software uses some javascript so that may be the cause of your problems.

Fascinating bit of info Danny, didn’t realise that you had access to the info on what operating system we use.
Just one question, why is Pprune so slow now, I know you updated the software, is the problem and how can we help to speed up the site?
Keep up the great work,

Cheers, Danny. I'm at home at the moment, but I'll give it a go once I'm back at work.
Wow, you mean I'm not the only one? Or did I just access PPRuNe 252 times from work :o

Unfortunately, Netscape isn't a Sun product and the browser that comes with Solaris is so laughable that I don't use it.
It all seems to have sorted itself out, anyway. Never did have to turn javascript on. Strange - most probably something at this end causing grief.

Evo I mentioned the same Nutcrape problem once before. The main culprit was that stupid Yell.com banner ad which even sidetracked my AdSubtract program. That ad caused a lot of problems.
Anyway the whole thing was solved once I downloaded the Opera browser. I use it exclusivley for PPRuNe and have no complaints. Might pay to give it a try. Its free.
