Smile Please

OK, I know this probably seems trivial, but when replying to or posting topics, I seem unable to make the smilie emoticon system work. For example I just tried to post a smile, but all I got was a colonclosebracket. Yes, the smilies OFF box is definitely not ticked. All suggestions appreciated. (Damn thing still won't work)
Whoopee, well, I promise you all it didn't work last time!!!!!!!! Will now try again in a different forum.
