UK Telephone 'Smart Boxes'

Apologies for a non-computer question, but One-Tel's customer support are unable to offer any technical assistance to help with an apparently 'known' problem involving conflict between their 'Smart Box' and a cordless phone. Mine throws the answer machine off its perch!
Is there a 'fundi' out there who knows whether the RF problem is telephone wire transmitted, or will distancing the smart box from the cordless unit or screening it solve the problem?

I don't understand what you mean "throws the a/s machine of it's perch", and why is this a prob with the cordless. Is it a digital cordless with built in a/s or old school? Try to describe the problem/equipment clearly and I'll try to help.

Thanks QNH. Onetel know about the problem. You also have to press the # key sometimes with a cordless to get a connection.
My problem is that with the box in the line the answer-phone cuts in but does not play the OGM, nor record. With the box out of the line, alles gut! Appreciated. Season's greetings
(Should have said it is DECT)
