iTunes CPU usuage
I must say I feel very let down with the 7.0 and onwards series of iTunes. The first version kept skipping and crackling and now I am on 7.3 and it seems to be maxing out the CPU at 100% much of the time. It is running on a computer with 768mb ram, 2.0 Ghz processor and Win XP SP 2 Firewall and Antivirus all up to date.

I have v7.2.0.34 running, Task manager says it is using 51,177K (2nd highest after Firefox with 87,000K) and 1% CPU.
My system is a Core2Duo E6600 with 2GB RAM, running XP.

After further investigation it seems to happen when using "Cover Flow" the album cover display feature. When it is switched to plain text it seems to give the CPU a break. It's a shame as it is a very nice feature!

It does seem a CPU-greedy beast. I don't use it to play music (WinAmp does the job adequately for a lot less CPU load). When it's updating the iPod, I go for a cuppa.

I bit the bullet and downloaded the latest version 7.3 and it looks like the cpu usage issue might have been resolved. On my lowly P4/1.8/768Mb/WINXP it is loading a tad faster, scrolling down a long list is quicker and the delay in starting to play a tune seems reduced.
