Thumbs down ABYSMAL DELIVERY TIMES FOR APPLE MACS

Just decided to order a new Apple MacBook Core Duo before I return to Africa. Apple quote free shipping and ready to ship in 3 days. I put the order in yesterday and was more than a bit surprised to get an e-mail today saying that my order will not be shipped until 16 June, with expected delivery on 27 June!! The Apple Customer service person, whilst perfectly polite was also completely useless! What a way to run a business - and apple expect to finally be able to compete with the other major laptop producers with service like this?

Well 2 things spring to mind.
1/ 3 days referrs to the stock unmodded system, any changes will probably add to this.
2/ 3 days is business days, so if you ordered yesterday (the 9th) depending what time you ordered the first "day" is the 12th so yes its 2 days later on shipping but see 1.
3/ Its the coolest laptop going, and I don't think they are competing on delivery times
4/ 16th - 27th yeah TNT suck but thats why delivery is "free"
5/ All dates are estimates.....
6/ If your going to be back in Africa before it arrives I'll look after it for you while your away......

Having just bought one myself they are well worth waiting for! I bought mine at an Apple store in California and they were going out the door like hot cakes, so just maybe they can't build them quickly enough!

Thumbs up Better News

After complaining to the Apple after-sales department, they have now told me that my computer was shipped to TNT yesterday and I can expect it by 20th, so that's a big improvement and just shows that it doesn't always do to just accept what one is told. We'll see if it really does arrive on time.
Has anybody tried downloading the parallel operating system? The article I read in the Wall Street Journal said means you can have both operating systems running in parallel and apparently switch between them just as you can between user accounts in Windows without shutting down?
Looking forward to getting it and hopefully getting it all set up before I travel again. It'll be my first Apple, so I hope it will be gentle with me because, being an old codger, I'm not as computer-literate as some of you who mwere brought up with them
