Computer to LCD TV connection

I am considering buying a LCD TV which does not have a D sub PC or a DVI input. It does however have a HDMI input. Can I use this to connect a PC?

I have had different info from dealers. Some say "Yes, no problem. Just buy a converter lead". Others have said "No it doesn't work"

Does anyone have any first hand experience??

Hope this will help:
"The good news for those buying sets equipped with DVI today is that DVI and HDMI are compatible; you just need a DVI-to-HDMI adapter ($40 and up). Of course, you won't get audio when you convert DVI to HDMI, but that's not a big deal since you can always use separate audio cables. In short, you shouldn't hesitate to buy a display today because it has DVI and not HDMI."

from this site - at least somewhere to start! I aasume your vid card has DVI output?

I will go with BOAC. I use a splendid 19 inch Samsung Monitor/LCD TV as the main Monitor (hardly ever TV) but that allows me to input the laptop through the VGA connection and the main PC through the DVI (and yes, I have heard that HDTV can be worked through there) plus DVD, Sat TV and Video, with inputs to spare.

Result being that I have a hardly used 17 inch Iiyama flat screen for those occasions where I need to do two things at once. Highly reccomended.

Thanks for the advice chaps but I really would like to hear from someone who has connected his PC to a TV via the TV's HDMI input.
