Free CAD ?
I wonder if anyone can point me in the direction of a simple freeware CAD programme?
In my spare time I do a bit of lathe work and I would find it very useful to be able to draw two dimensional plans and then render them into 3D with perhaps some lighting/shading effects.

Am I a cad to be thinking that you could have typed <<free CAD software>> into Google just as well as I ?
Oh well, nevermind, try http://www.freebyte.com/cad/cad.htm#2D3DCADSystems
for a good list (I'm told VectorEngineer is nice)
Good luck!

Mac.
Thanks for your reply.Be assured that I had already consulted Google before posting my question here but the choice is wide and I was hoping to narrow the range by asking for other users experience. I will certainly take note of your recommendation.
