Email - Outlook 2002 - logins/passwords

Hi Guys,

Using Outlook 2002 SP3 (not Outlook Express).

It intermittently, but frequently 'forgets' the server login and or password, and pops up a window asking for them.

It actually has them already correctly filled in, and all I need to do is click OK, but clearly this is neither correct nor desirable behavior.

Any ideas?

Could be an authentication problem at your ISP.

I have a similar feature from time to time with my ISP. They know about it and have improved the situation with software fixes etc. on their mail servers. But from time to time it pops up again.

Thanks LL34,

I don't think that's it though. I'm accessing several email hosts, and it's happening on two of them. (Yahoo's pop3 service is one, the other is my own domain hosted by easyspace in the UK)

Oh, also Win XP Home SP2, for the gurus.

I have exactly the same problem from time to time - some email hosts work OK and others do not.

In my experience it is generally down to problems with the host mailserver and usually clears within a short time.

I have confirmed this by checking with the particular mail sever on occasion and they have confirmed a fault.
