Problems with paypal
Hello all,
I have never been able to access paypal from my home computer. When I go to pay for something from ebay it goes into the 'this page cannot be displayed' bit.
I always assumed this to be a glitch with the cranky old install of windows 98 at home. This weekend I updated the machine to windows 2000, but the same thing still happens.
I am unable to get into the login section of paypal. I think that this is something to do with the https: extension on the beginning of those particular pages. I have no problem getting into paypal from work (naughty naughty!) or even from the public library.
Is this a tick box option somewhere in my settings?
Help gratefully recieved,
N.
PS I should mention that my copy of windows didn't necessarily
come in a sealed box.
PPS Yes, I am using explorer

WIN2K is installs in a different directory from win 98 - usually in a folder called WinNT so I'd doubt the problem is with the OS.
Are you using IE 6.0? (I.E 5.0 is buggy and not supported by some https sites)
If you are, have you tried changing all the settings of IE back to default values? (and then closing and re-starting the browser to see if anything changes).
And have you tried it with a different browser, like Opera?

I will have a go at downloading the latest version of explorer - probably at work as I am only on a dial up modem at home. I don't fancy installing a different browser at this stage.
Thanks,

Abandon IE. Go to the Mozilla site and download Firefox 1.0.
It's faster, more reliable, and less prone to hacking.
I've never had any problem with Ebay or Paypal using Mozilla or Firefox.

Hi All,
I can now confirm that I have tried IE6 and it works just fine. However, within a couple of days the PC contracted a virus which kept redirecting me to a search engine that the perpetrators wanted me to use. How annoying.
I then tried firefox in conjunction with an install of zonealarm and all has been fine since.
Thanks,
N

noisy,
Download Hijack This! and post the log file here. Do NOT make any repairs. (Hijack This! pulls up everything, including programs that are supposed to be in your computer.)
Take Care,
Richard
