Xoftspy ver 3.45 ( opinions sought )
I recently d/l this Spyware ferret and it " appeared " to find quite a few entries ( 10, rated from serious threat to yawn material ) where my existing suite of ferrets ( adaware/Spybot/Spyware blaster etc etc ) had been issuing clean bills of health. Is this another " black ice " firewall situation where phantom breaches were reported for the self agrandisement of the program ? or is this program the ducks guts, so to speak ?
Any and all opinions welcomed.

SeldomFixit,
I have not used the program but here are some things I found on the net:
Lavasoft Forum Moderator - Webhelper Review: XOFTSPY Don't buy and here the reasons why
DSL Reports Forums - Xoftspy.. Is it more rogue antispyware
Spyware Warrior Forums - Webhelper Review: XOFTSPY
The last one has some very interesting information on it. My guess is, XOFTSPY is designed for the sole purpose of scaring you into paying them money.
Take Care,
Richard

Richard - thanks for the links. They confirm what several days use of this rubbish just illustrated.
Bin it and good riddance. Browser homepage change attempts, browser toolbar change attempts, more threats to my PC than an Arab leader with a bag full of WMD's...........anyone contemplating this proggie - forget it.

SeldomFixit,
Running Ad-Aware, Spybot, HouseCall, Hijack This!, CWShredder and a full time Anti Virus Program along with either a hardware or software firewall, will keep you safe 99.99% of the time.
