Linux & VMware Workstation
Hi folks
Has anybody had any experience with installing linux onto a Windows 2000 machine using VMware Workstation? the application is still new to me but i would like to get some form of linux on to play about with..

Rather than an install try Knoppix (http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html) it's a live (Very) fully featured linux distribution that runs from CD without installing anything, great hardware detection too.
I keep one in the laptop bag as a rescue disk.

I have a virtual Red Hat installation on my XP machine that runs quite well. I mostly use it as a web server for testing, but it's great for playing about with too.
There are often a few tweaks that need to be done before the installations work in VM Ware, but most of it is documented on VM's website. It's probably best to choose a supported OS too.
