Identifying Task Manager Processes

Done a search but can't find an earlier thread on this one.

If I open Task Manager and look at the list of Processes running, is there a definitive list published on a site somewhere which can translate the Process name into something the layman can understand ?

I know some are obvious I.e. IEXPLORER.EXE for example, and Google is fairly good at identifying some.

Over to the experts out there .....

(I'm running Win2K SP4 on an Intel 2.4GHz P4 with 512Mb of RAM)

Generally typing the process name into Google will tell you what it is, but if you are stuck, post the name/names here and "one of our customer service staff will be with you shortly"

If you suspect you have a problem, download and run a program calledHijackThis!! and then post your results here.

You can also try using a program called WinTasks for identifying processes.

I have had good experience with the link gas path mentioned too.

Cheers
