Partition question

I'm shortly going to partition my hard disk, and I've a small question for the more knowledgable people out there.

If I pick up a computer virus on a partioned disk, can the virus affect all the areas, or will it be limited to to the partition in use at the time.?

419,

If can get into everything if the virus is executed and its payload is released. It will infect anything it has access to.

Take Care,

Richard

P.S. The only way to keep the other partition safe is if your OS cannot read it. Example have the partition in NTFS with the other partition running Win9x.

Hey, Easter Bunnies.

Hmmm...according to the info I have, Boot Sector Viruses install onto the 1st track of the IDE - therefore all of the disk and thus all of the partitions are infected.

Hope I'm wrong!
