Who is this company Redjet, and who are there backers. Hear they are out of Barbados. Is the Barbados Government involved? Are they sufficient Bajan Pilots to work for this company, or are they using all Americans, and Europeans.

European money main backers Ian and Robbie Burns, not sure if digicel still investing in them, or what local investment they now have, air one ventures is parent name tried couple of years ago to get going. Understand they are camped in digicel office in BGI.

They werent allowed to operate out of jamaica by the local government , I also understand they were trying to get 737s to operate initially but could not get the financial backing.

Anyone has any insight on the costs associated with operating out of barbados?

RedJet

RedJet is modeling itself after Ryanair using MD80s. They have received their AOC and should be launching soon, initially to a few Caribbean destinations and then to KFLL out of Barbados.
Website is REDjet - Home

Hopefully they are not planning on that level of service, the Caribbean is not ready for the MOL attitude yet, they can surely offer LCC with a better model in mind, make the passenger feel they are valued and you can still fleece them. good luck to them

The islands are dominated by american , delta, caribbean airlines , Liat.

I dont see a low cost airline operating some ancient and very much used aircraft on short pressurization cycles to spark anything there.

But the livery is nice
