Where Can I Hire SEL in Chile?

I'd like to hire a small SEL in Chile. My enquiries by email to clubs listed on FEDACH website has produced zero replies. Can anyone help me find a plane to hire?

Additional question relates to licence requirements in Chile.
Does Chile accept FAA PPL's without further ado?

From where I sit any help would be appreciated.

I'm not quite sure (actually I have no idea) what SEL stands for Would it be a Single Engine aircraft? Enlight me please and I may be able to provide you with the information you are looking for.

As for the convalidation of your FAA PPL to chilean equivalent, you will need to forward the notary-legalised copies of the following (you will obviously need your originals once in Chile):

Your logbook (must include a BIG stamp from your flight club and/or ideally from your governing agency i.e. CAA or FAA)

Your medical certificate

Your licence

Your passport

2 color passport-size picture (ideally of yourself)

Once the DGAC (chilean CAA) has received all the required documents they will contact the FAA to verify that you indeed hold a FAA PPL. This could take as little as a few days and as long as a few weeks. Afterwards, you will be eligible to hold a chilean "convalidated" PPL for as long as you hold a valid medical certificate.

Hope this helps a little.

Cheers

Hiring Small Plane in Chile

Glonass, many thanks for your reply regarding the licence.

SEL stands for Single Engine Land, i.e. the majority of private planes in US FAA speak. I would like to hire a Cessna 172 or similar. Any sources would be appreciated.

Cheers

Johansen,

I don't manage a lot of information regarding SEL but here's a link that may be helpful (it's in spanish and I don't own any share in that cie).

http://www.romeomike.cl/

Their e-mail is: [email protected]

They don't operate C-172 but they list the following prices:

Piper Tomahawk PA-38 CLP$46.000 (~GBP$42)/hour
Piper Cherokee 140 PA-28 $50.000 (~GBP$45)/hour
Piper Arrow PA-28R $62.000 (~GBP$56)/hour

All their aircrafts are GPS equipped. Their prices include fuel cost but do not include additional operating costs (i.e. landing fees, etc.)

Let me know if you need more info.

Cheers

Chile

Johansen;

did you have any joy from any of the clubs in Chile as I would be interested in doing a similar trip having flown all over the US and parts of Africa. If you could keep me undated that would be very nice
