Well, thank goodness for that! (other than they'll (we'll) probably take a lo$$). Though "corporate" aircraft have a role to play in executive transportation, a Challenger is much more than is needed for travel within Ontario. Travel beyond Ontario (which can't be all that frequent for the government of Ontario) can be accommodated by other air service providers for much less cost than owning the jet!

Someone realized that every movement of this aircraft would be tracked and reported on by the meeja. I wonder why Mr Ford didn't twig to this.
Sorry, Dougie, your dream of landing at YQA every Friday night for a nice weekend at the cottage has failed to become reality.

And the PEI guy flies to locations across PEI? How's that for a waste of time and resources? Are there even commercial flights between points in PEI?

What disconnects for me is the news reports saying that the jet cost the province $29M (+/-), and it was sold back for that amount days later. Did the government of Ontario write a cheque for $29M, and then have a check for $29M writtin back to them for this transaction? if so, what's that airplane actually worth? I know little about the value of challengers, but my quick Google search suggests a value less than a quarter of that. Maybe there was a prepaid operating contract? If so, did the government of Ontario prepay many millions?

Apparently, there was some non recovered cost to the Ontario government:
