Foreign License Conversion and Costs??

Hi,

Does anyone know whats the process and how much would it cost to convert my license in Canada? I currently have CPL with Instrument Rating and possibly a Flight Instructor license in a few months here in the Philippines.

Thanks!

You'll find all your answers here.

The fee is hidden on the application form. It's CAD$45.00.

i don't think that's right. That's only for getting the certificate, which is a temporary thing. If you're moving to Canada - or want the Canadian license - you'd probably want the actual conversion process, which you can find here

Just remember, getting your CPL or ATPL converted only allows you to fly planes. It does not grant you work rights, which is something only your visa or permanent residency (or citizenship) would allow.

Short answer, based on a quick reading of the above, somewhere between 1000-1500 CAD for the written test and flight test for just the CPL. Free for multi-engine (if you're current), and another 1500-2000 for the ME IFR, if you have it. Read up on the link in my last post, should have more details.

You'll also need to find somewhere which will rent you a plane. Most places like flying clubs and schools will want to check that you actually know how to fly it, before letting you out solo, so that's going to be extra costs on top of those for the written exams and the flight tests.

(I included a rough estimate of what those are by combining the written exam fee, flight examiner fees, and rental fees above. Could be lower or higher depending on where you go)
