hour building but stuck!! please help

Hi!

I really want to come to Canada, during the summer months for some time building! The only thing is seeing i've never been to Canada before I dont know where the best places are!

Could someone recommend any good cities/areas to fly out of that will give me good weather and some good scenery, at an affordable price in terms of aircraft costs and how much an Arrow/saratoga/C182 (looking for these aircraft as it will help me with my CPL). Would be staying with a friend to cut cost down in ottowa.

Well if you're staying in Ottawa that limits your search area quite a bit. For those a/c types you're going to be looking at close to $200/hr I'm guessing, maybe a bit less if you buy bulk hours. Certainly lots of good scenery in that area.

Perhaps, before I offer some suggestions to help you along during your visit to Canada, you would consider rethinking the term "hour building". How about "building experience", or "broadening horizons". "Hour building" brings to mind a pilot who has an hour a thousand times, rather than a thousand hours - there's a vast difference! While you build experience, the hours will come your way too! As you are venturing this way, you are obviously, you're obviously broadening your horizons, so let's make the best of that!

In Ottawa, you will find the Rockcliff flying club (they apparently have a Citabria which will fly backwards):

though I do not know if they rent aircraft, you'd have to contact them. Also, the Ottawa flying club, at the international airport, who rent.

More in my direction, and a 4 hour drive from Ottawa (and an hour and a half from Toronto) you'll find Lake Country Airways.

The great thing about this company is that they rent 172's on wheels and floats. You can do some experience building on wheels, and get a float rating too. A float rating will certainly add to your wheel flying skills.

Nearer to Toronto is Brampton flying club. They rent out a 172RG:

Keep your expectations low, I very much doubt that you'll find an Arrow/Saratoga/C182 for rent. Plan on finding a 172, there are lots of them around.

Thanks evertone for the information, the problem is i'm looking for a fast aircraft that can also take four up( got some family in canada so would love to take them up) with full fuel and not be a problem with mass and balance. Plus i'll be using an arrow to do my CPL and so i want something with similar speed or faster so i can sail through it and dont think C152 or C172 would cut, anymore help would be deeply appreciated. thanks

The only Piper Arrow listed for rent that I can find in Ontario is at:

This is a four hour drive from Ottawa. I was surprised to find it, generally, a 172 is about as big a single as is offered for rent in these parts. I would certainly check on the availability of this aircraft, I have never seen one for rent at that airport....

Will give them a call and see if I can arrange something, also do you think if I was staying in Toronto my options would be greater? As I have some family there so could go stay with them if it'll better my chances of finding the aircrafts I'm after.

Island Air Flight School, located right next to downtown Toronto has 182s for rent. I have flown with friends who rented from them and they seem to be a pretty good outfit. I also have a friend who was doing his CPL at Brampton Flight Centre and transferred to them because of problems with Brampton. Brampton used to have an excellent reputation but, after speaking to a number of people, I am told that the place has gone downhill.
