Cargo and Canada infos

Hi guys, i'm an european airline pilot with a full JAA ATPL and 2500 hours on B737. I've always been fascinated by Canada and cargo operations with such fantastic airplanes like the 727. I'd like to know some informations about Cargojet and other cargo airlines there; requirements for First Officer, general business situation etc.
What about the JAA licence validation in Canada?

Thank you very much guys

Jet old chap, most who post this sort of thing from the EU or such places are products of a system which doesnt play very well over here, ie "Multi Crew Lic" or some such thing, Canada has a large pool of high time kids who have many hours flying twins into ****holes useing the most basic of aids, unlike the EU where you fly mostly into strips longer than 3000ft of gravel, normally with an ILS or two, thus employers would rather hire these , nothing personel, just the way it is.To compound your problem Canada is tied to the USA in many ways, thus our industry has its problems at this time so there are some VERY experienced pilots looking for work.Good luck to you in you flying I just dont think it will be in Canada.

Thank you clunck.

Just for info, every summer I fly to windy, short (1400 meters) and visual-based approach airports (sometimes with turns on short final, Kai Tak style) on small islands in the mediterranean sea with the 737.
This is not intended to be a complaint to your post; it's just to say we don't always fly to ILS, 3000 meters long runways.

I wish good luck to all the guys over there who are looking for a job and hope this ugly period will pass soon.

Jet, thats about 4600 feet, that is if my brain is working in this heat, a pretty good lenght over here, but having said that the real problem you have is the pilot surplus over here which is going to be compounded if AC retirment goes to age 65. Its a catch 22, Canada needs imigrants of the right kind {Im sure you are one of these} but many of the skilled jobs dont need anyone, this in turn has depressed pay scales. Looking at the situation in the EU its sounds like the same old, same old! Lets hope things turn around soon! Flying on Sat. into and of/2900ft/3000ft/ 5000ft, at least no snow at plus 33C!

Clunck, you are right, but you know, I was talking about airliner operations (1400 meters are barely sufficient for a 737-400). The other kind of flying activities are really beautiful and exciting and I can't say I didn't want to be one of them before joining the airline's world...

Happy landings mate

hey Jet, all 727 operators here hire into the back seat and upgrade to FO, so if your ok with sitting sideways for around 2 years. However with your time and type I would try company called Sunwing, a tour operator that does European operations as well.
