I see that Jazz has started to look at the resumes online. Good news I guess.

If you have 1000 hours they won't hire you. The 1000 hours is so they can keep your resume on file and look for you in the near future in a few years. Hope I haven't rained on anyones parade

DONKEY: I have over 6000 hrs. The last 1000 on B747.

GOOSE:
It tells you on the workopolis site how many times your CV has been viewed. As I only allowed it to be viewed by Jazz. I know all three looks are by them.

I've only apply to Jazz with workopolis..... got a call this evening, a few quick question and a verification that it was a valid application, first interview in a few weeks that's what she said they don't have any fixed dates yet, but a first ground school is plane on the Dash 8 in august for the Toronto base... that's what I was told i don't know anything else.
I have over 5000h...

and the starting salary is a very low 34K$

It used to be higher but was dropped considerably when CCAA hit.. All the pilots took a big pay cut and are still not back to what they were making in 2003. Sad but true.

Wonder if they (Jazz) will have trouble attracting people with competition from AC and Westjet, especially with the wages they are paying?

It's always been a food chain and if you're up north looking to avoid another winter, then Jazz would be a great opportunity. As many low time pilots waiting on the ramp would appreciate movement as well. For those with the qualifications for AC mainline, the competition will be strong. Initial wages are low at all companies but you must make the move for long term positioning. Between WJ, Jazz and AC hiring there should be some positive movement at long last for most.

The last bunch of guys to be hired at AC had around 6500hrs each, theres alot of high time guys applying now. Thats of course mainline. 2500-3500 hr should get you into Jazz no problem.

For the guys in the know, I was just wondering where Jazz usually base new hires? I understand that it depends on certain things, but I’m just curious as to where new hires usually get based? Or a better question would be where have new hires been getting based, typically?

Also, could some one shed some light on the flight benefits with Jazz? Are you allotted a certain number of passes every year that you can distribute to who you see fit, or do you get unlimited pass for immediate family only?

Thanks

My guess is that the new hires will be based in YYZ or YUL as those are the most junior bases by far, YVR and YYC being the most senior. As for passes, there is a six month waiting period before you qualify for them, then you, your spouse and parents are entitled to unlimited standby travel, (not sure about dependants since I don't have any, at least none that I know of!!! LOL) You are also given 10 buddy passes per year that you can allocate to whomever you want, the catch being that you must travel with them. There are a few other little things but that about covers that basics. Hope it helps.

How about Halifax? Is that still a base for Jazz pilots? And if so, is that a likely base for new hires?

Thanks

Yes Halifax is still a base, however is has been downsized considerably. There are a number of pilots that have been displaced and hold reinstatement rights if they ever decided to expand it again. (not likely) The only bases that I can see new hires going to are YYZ and YUL.
