I'd like to see a member of the flight deck in the cabin fighting with pax about luggage, or even trying to help the dieing lady.
Arempi, Id like to see you in the cockpit fighting to land the ac in bad conditions, or even trying to understand what ATC tells you.

they don't have a clue about what equipment is in the cabin and surely how it works.
You on the other hand know exactly what the instuments in the cockpit are for, right? And you know how to use them all as well, don't you?

Oh and another point, in our flight safety manual it says that we have to check the cockpit every 30 minutes. I'd bet a small fortune that it says exactly the same in yours! Like it or not, making sure your pilots are safe and healthy is part of your job. :)
Sure some pilots are absolute ignorant d!ckheads. But so are some flight attendants, P.Arempi.

Like Tarantella-the-wise says: Animosity on the ac achieves nothing. And the way you nurse that chip on your shoulder, animosity must be your constant travelling companion.

Arempi, the more of your posts I read, the more I cringe at you being in the same profession as I am.

Girls and Boys,

To quote the great lady herself "I can take all the madness the world has to give but I wouldn't last a day without you". Let us come together in the spirit of Karen and Richard and acknowledge that whether we are top or bottom on the aircraft we truly need each other to be "on top of the world". For the sake of interplanetary co-operation we must cherish and wonder at the marvel of aircrew teamwork and resist the darkness of solitaire.

Jumbalaya!

Hey you guys are really really different, and I can see why now it is a good idea for tech. crew to bring their own food. One of you is really scary. I hope they find you.
You are seriously deranged and a menace to safe efficient trolley operations.

That Fat German pax. was related to that FA who threatened to tamper with the food, I believe.

captcat 24th October 2000 12:38

When people wil realise that we are working TOGETHER? We need one another and it is not by arguing that we will achieve anything.

In my company I have never heard anyone to complain about the other cathegory's salary.

I have never seen or heard about any FA doing anything nasty to a tech. If a pilot is a DH,
the ostracism and the dislike of the FA (and other pilots, because if you are a DH you generally are to everybody) cathegory is enough.

Management can only take advantage of such selfish riots.

Let's be constructive. The world has too many minorities to minorize eachother!

Flapsforty:
In my company FA are not paid flying time when deadheading. It is considered off duty. That's why some are not very happy and think that they shouldn't assure any service to F/D as they are not on duty! But they take care of the F/D anyway because they are not the counterpart, but people they have to work with, live with (1 week layovers etc), get to know personally and anyway workers as they are.

Did you read the profile cabin boy?
I would not expect much of anyone from down there, it's so miserable in the first place and they want to burden us with their thoughts on social wellfare, he'se lucky he's got a job! let alone being served a cup of tea. Tell him to come and get it himself!

RedMinx you're on !!!!!

Howdy Flaps, nice put down to p.Arempi. I'm glad it came from another F/A and not F/D. I am not one of those who has much to fear from 'imaginative' F/A's. On short sectors such as AMS, GCI, JER etc., I always say that if they haven't got time then don't come in. You are right about checking up on F/D though, c'mon guys, it makes sense whether you like them or not.

On a personal note, I think that most of you do a fine job for far too little money. I don't know that I could do your job, not because I would consider it beneath me but because I just can't abide crass individuals. On the flight deck we have our fair share but we know who they are and their freedom to exercise their traits is very limited in the cockpit.

Conversely, there are two issues here. (Please don't take this the wrong way) The market pays workers commensurate with their skills not their hardships. Many of you will have been nurses in a past life and will know what I mean. In this area there is little you can do. The other issue has already been discussed and that is Union representation. This is the best way of improving your conditions.

Now I don't propose to patronise you as to why F/D enjoy better conditions than you because those of you who are hardliners, if you're honest with yourselves, will know why.

We do rely on you to ensure the safety of our passengers; we couldn't do the job without you. There's no excuses for bad CRM on the part of the F/D but you get @rseholes in all walks of life and our profession is no exception. In the face of adversity, stay professional, at least you'll still have your pride.

Very funny, Scotty. Now beam up my clothes!
