:ugh: :ugh: :ugh:
It's just a little News !! Yes it might be gossip but it's news , Full stop . Now off to bed , After a great night out with fab crew  |
Hey BMED LHR
Hey you....
Glad to hear you had a great trip........... Good to hear the gossip that potentially there will be a trip to Astana! One question though...why is there the rumour...driven by a senior BA director that Baku and Almaty are coming back to BA mainline as of next winter? He mentioned this with a series of other routes/frequency increases on the BA network. Just checking if you have heard this? |
Now Thats News !!
Hello There ...
Most of my flights are not full except Amman .It's been a bad year for BMED ,Baku flights are 50/50 and Almaty are about the same , But saying that if Almaty was direct service on a 767/777 the flight's might go full as it would be direct . And Dakar/Freetown are empty (19 passenger's both ways ) , This is because BA/BMED have not done any Advertising about the new destination's. And one of the Passengers told me it was only by chance that he saw BA/BMED are flying to Dakar and Freetown now . And he said the Baggage allowance is to little 32kg as to the other British Airline that services the same destination direct , And there Baggage is 60 kg per Passengers , I dont know if this is fact though . My Captain on my last trip said Astana and I think another city close to Baku , (I'll try and get the name :bored: ) that would be a possible route . Oh its all glamour ..!! Come on BA give us a nice route , It does make me Laugh how we push our Aircraft to the Max . I think if we had slide rafts on our Aircraft anything would be possible :) , I wonder if BA started Baku And Almaty do you think they would transfer maybe another two routes to BMED . Are there any BA routes going out empty these days ?? Oh and where not getting a Christmas meal at BMED this year. If your working Christmas just a free ticket .. Little sad, but if it saves the company money so be it ! I'll try get some more info but your's is very interesting;) Take Care ... |
The reason BA dropped Baku, Almaty and other routes like that is that they couldn't make money sending a 767 or 777 down there.
If BMED aren't getting many passengers going that way using small Airbuses and one stop there is no way that, even with a direct Almaty, BA would be able to make money on that using a 767 or 777!!! I would think BA have better uses for their 76's and 777's than sending them to BMED type places, such as using them to the USA or somewhere like that. |
The only BMED-esque route on the BA mainline network is Tripoli, and this won't be transferred over as;
1) BA make a lot of money on this route 2) BMED aircraft can't handle the club volume on this route (50+) 3) BA shorthaul crew can operate the service on an Airbus, non-stop and within the same day. The rest of the middle east/africa/asia is doing fine for BA mainline. For reasons that Sonic Cruiser has mentioned above, BA are not very interested in BMED routes, as long as BMED continues to fly most of them. The only route with potential for transfer at the moment is THR, as BMED aircraft aren't ideal and there is a possibility of using the longhaul 767 either direct, or as in the past, via LCA. |
I don't think BMED can compete with the likes of KLM and Luthansa on some of its routes. BA if it took them back probably wouldn't either.
Unfortunatly for BMED, as people have mentioned, is that the competitors have caught up. Hopefully BMED will be able to diversify and look elswhere to make money as its tradditional markets are becoming harder and harder to compete in. This thread is becoming more like one that should be in the Airlines, airports and routes forum............... :hmm: Back to the cabin crew....:ok: |
The simple fact is that BMED are losing out in name, on some of these routes. Baku may go half full in the cabins, but they go full for cargo...now the last time I heard, cargo was a lot more lucrative than passenger travel. You have to look at the bigger picture what we think is not neccessarily the whole issue.
I agree that the volume of traffic might not be high, but if these routes can be serviced with a reduced frequency, but on larger a/c do you then not think that BA would do it? It would be an illusion on your part to think they have not at least examined the possibilities. There is also a need for this, hence the recognition for larger a/c by BMED. It's not like they have not mentioned the need to have larger a/c operating their routes...am I wrong Still I hope that for everyones sake at BMED that the December 18th announcement brings some joy..... |
Larger aircraft would only work on some of BMED's routes, if it were to get larger aircraft I imagine it would be to go elswhere as well.
I am sure BA does examine BMED type routes all the time but at the moment can't see where they will get the spare larger aircraft from as unlikely they would pull one of their routes to free up an aircraft for a BMED type route. Anyway, maybe I am wrong, will wait and see. Still can't see where the news of an anouncement on Dec 18th has come from, companies don't set a specific date to announce plans about their future etc. What happens if the plans don't work out by that point? Would look a bit silly if they said they would announce such and such on a date and then the plan didn't work out in time so there wasn't anything to announce!!!! |
Talking about training courses being postponed.....im starting in less than 2 weeks!!
|
Thats good news that training courses are starting again at BMED, maybe things are on the up again!
|
Yea....sounds like BMED are gonna be great to work for!! I cant wait now!! Course starts on the 27th!! WOO HOO!! Cant wait to meet ya all!! Thanx for ya PM DMED....make sure you do come and say hello!!
