Hi everyone,

I applied for the job abount 2 weeks ago...still didn't get any answer, i believe i have to be patient !
I have previous flying experience and i'm currently flying for a japanese airline but i hate it. I read all the pros and cons about working for Bmed, you've expressed on this forum. I think it's more or less what i'm looking for.
I saw various things about the salary, could somebody guaranty that on a normal roster (no hollidays, no sickness) i will get at least 1300 pounds ?
As well i'm wondering what is your longest flight and if there is any chance to rest on a seat or in a bunk if this flight is over 6 or 7 hours.

Many thanks for your answers

hi there,
as main crew you will look to take home about 1300/1400pm. More as you climb the ranks.
As for rest, well forget the bunk, if your lucky you may get the last row of world traveller but only on 2 or more sectors OR any flight time over 6hrs.
If your with me, not to worry, i give loads of rest when i can. You never know when you may be called into action!! and its better then looking at the rear/fwd doors for endless hrs.

Longest flt - 12/13hrs duty

good luck

aeulad 5th October 2006 13:40

I would put that at a conservative estimate. I would say if you average it out, the better months outweigh the poorer months. My last take home was considerably more than 1400:D

Regards

Mike

It was 5 years ago today that BMED taught the band to go home

Anyone else here remember that fateful day five years ago when SW and her minions made the decision to keep half the course and send the other half away on their "Wings Day" just before the celebration drinks.

"Very Sad"

I was there:(

I am glad that I am not now:)

I am sure that it's all different now.

Good luck and happy flying to those who wish to join BMED.

It was Diabolical,

oneroam 5th October 2006 16:46

Yes i remember that day too.

I believe that they got rid of the wrong people on this day but will they ever learn???:}

big boy 12 5th October 2006 23:35

run as fast as you can

just on the issue of waiting for a reply from bmed if you do not hear from them or are put on a waiting list you have had a very lucky escape keep running and never look back this has to be the worst airline out there

BMED and the December Announcement

Hi All,

My little sources in BMED tell me that all is not well, or at least that there is some major announcement to be made in December.

BMED have supposedly:-

Delayed their upcoming a/c order and cancelled New entrant courses for the foreseeable future....one successful applicant recently received a letter stating that their application was placed on hold for six months. They would then have to resit an interview again to see if they were still suitable for the position.

There is some speculation that:-

BA may try to take them over.....although this is fairly unlikely and has been speculation for some time.

BMED may potentially lose it's franchise agreement........

BMED want to go it alone......look at how they are becoming increasingly more independent of BA....now sourcing their own DF products and mentioning BA less and less in announcements....

Perhaps, there is also the potential that BMED/GB are to join forces and form one big Franchise. Des Hetherington had only just signed a strategic agreement to pool the buying of a/c and to work much closer with Gb, so you never know.

Come on you BMED, that are up on the news.....what is being said in the Halls of Hetherington house? Are you aware that things are not all good? Were you even aware of this pending announcement in December?

TightSlot 14th October 2006 11:19

Do not re-post a previous thread using the "Quote" facility unless there is a need for it - in this case there is not a need. Further posts containing massive and unnecessary quotes will be deleted.

Hubbly 14th October 2006 14:25

BMEDLHR...i do realise all that you have mentioned...was there before you and know all the above....I'm asking a legitamite question, if you can't supply an answer why bother to be so negative.:bored:

Did in fact you realise that Des had already signed the "strategic agreement" before he sadly, passed away?? Why do you think GB are sharing Hetherington House with you? Why was GB/BMED jointly investing in new a/c?

You may never have seen me post here, but I was at BMED for quite some time before you...I am one of those who choose to view what is written here rather than comment, but now that I have raised my voice, it would be appreciated if you could show some courtesy.......either that, or say nothing at all.

Not sure for you however, that it would be a good idea that BMED leave the Franchise agreement...Des used to say that it would be over his dead body that BMED willingly leave the Franchise agreement(I realise that is a poor turn of phrase, but they were his words), it was this agreement which saved BMED in the first place!! Just think you might just be flying to your beloved Beirut and Beirut only!!

Does anybody else who can objectively post, have an opinion on my question?

superairhostess 14th October 2006 19:55

Hi Hubbly I just got offered a position with them and thought it was strange of them not to have a date for the training course:confused:

Now that I've read your post I'm more worried than ever though:{
I'm currently working for BA SF LGW and was planning to leave for them.:}

superairhostess 14th October 2006 20:16

That means I'm gonna try with Jal in the meanwhile:ouch:

True

Due to the fact the the a/c has been delayed

BA definitely doesn't want the routes back otherwise they would've already taken them back, BA lost money on these routes and this is a cost affective way for BA to still provide the service to their customers without actually having to deal with it. Infact BMED is enhancing the BA product.

That would be extremely costly and due to BMEDs current economic state they wouldn't be able to afford it. So I guess we can deduce from that what will and what won't happen in the very near future.

They still offer the BA df products they have just added more of there own as there are alot of products in the Highlife mag not available onboard due to various operational reasons ie. stock only available on eu flights etc.

The agreement as you correctly stated was signed, yet GB and BMED haven't as of yet as you stated "pool the buying of a/c"

Hubbly at the end of the day at the moment it is all rumours and I guess you'll just have to wait until December when the announcement is made.

BMED LHR is very dedicated to BMED and if anyone knows whats happening at BMED he would be the one to ask. He might not have conveyed his message in a manner suitable to you but atleast he took the time to reply.

I hope this information helps.

Hubbly 15th October 2006 03:55

Thanks Superboy....i think we know each other;) .......

I don't have anything against BMEDLHR and have followed your back and forwards banter with some interest. I do realise BMEDLHR wanted to get a point across, perhaps I was a bits testy with my reply, so I apologise. I see that post(BMEDLHR's) is now gone, but I did take the time to reply to some of the points that were raised.

That asides, thanks for the response to my genuine concern for what is going on at BMED. Though I may have left to do other things, I still hold BMED close to my heart. I had many a good experience there(thanks only to the excellents crews that were there during my time) and would hate to see anything untoward happen to BMED as a company.....

I still have many friends and colleagues working there and my concern is for them obviously, hence my questioning.

Cheers for your reply:ok:

Teaandcoffee, I did the first nightstop that BMED made in Khartoum...obviously it was unscheduled, but it was interesting. We stayed in the "best hotel" in Khartoum, it is on the banks of the Blue Nile...let's just say the decor is very 70's!! It will take a bit of getting used to, but I am sure you will have fun. You can leave the hotel and even do tours around the city...my advice..check out the hotel giftshop, you'll find some of the most unusual gifts available.i.e.crocodile head ashtrays etc.....

At least the ladies don't have to cover up like in Tehran.

A mate of mine from the Int. Red Cross lives in Freetown...he says there is not a lot to do......situation is still pretty tense, but you can go out okay, or at least with no hassle, there's a couple of okay restaurants in the City if you dare to eat...all pretty near the hotel.

I wish you luck with those destinations...strange places, but interesting nonetheless.

BMED LHR 15th October 2006 09:29

Hello,

Hello..
I have a Freetown next month , Little used to west africa as I use to fly to Nigeria . But the hotel was a sheraton , I think everyone is going to pack there own food and towels , sheet and pillow cases etc ..Just hope the water is not brown in the shower . Then I have a 5 day Addis "Joy" , Oh god I'm going to be the african Queen .

I'm very interested about the Big News In december and I Promise to keep you all in the picture , As you all know I love a bit of Gossip ;)
