Gladrags
I think you'll find that quite a few of the posters on this thread or at least the last few, work for BMed. They are therefore already ponitificating. The reason they have mixed views is the very fact that the management are keeping quiet on this one until the official announcement. Hence all the speculation:confused: |

********************************************************** BMED (a BA franchise operating A320/A321) is to merge with Virgin Nigeria and cease it's BA franchise. It will become a Virgin Franchise, to be rebranded "Virgin East and a bit of Africa", to be abbreviated "Virgin EAABOA". EAABOA - meaning to come in Peace in Etheopian. Quoting Sir Richard Branson, "I've always wanted a bit of Africa and Central Asia, next stop the moon". The BMED CEO Dave Richardson was seen in the Managers car park, skipping and screaming "I'm over the moon, too!". "It was a delight to see "Dave" in such an ecstatic state, day's before it was a bottle of Whisky and a Revolver! ", said an employee. A Senior Pilot was not in such a good mood, however, he was upset that the Tashkent had been cancelled and the "Entertainment" (;) )wasn't as good in Africa. funny?
I dont know if Orvil finds funny his post or not but if he does, his SOH is pathetic. I honestly dont find funny make jokes about a serious situation concerning to so many of your colleagues. Orvil should think seriously of his actions, more proper from a silly kid than from any serious adult.
Dmed |
Is this true or is somebody pulling your leg ????
|
obviously he is pulling everyone´s leg. he was laughing at all the reades of this forum and specially at BMED crew members who are worried about the present situation of affairs.
|
Of course it's a joke!
God sake, Dmed of course it's a joke! I can tell by your level of Engleesh that your a foreign crew member without any hint of "British" sense of humour. Hence, why it's so bad at Bmed. Do you stay in your room down route and don't mix with the Brits but only with your own kind? Let me guess? Italian or Spanish ? Learn the culture .... |
well, thats not british humor, that is NO sense of humour at all. And i DO mix with my crew and hardly spend any time in my room so, hope you have better criteria for the rest of things in your life.

Oh and if you missed it, in the above quote there is more than just a spelling mistake but hey your linguistic abilities are impressive.

Well,
I'm impressed. I put a p1ss take press release up and all hell brakes loose!! Dmed and Superboy, you've my proved my point! On the S + L , what can I say? Nudge, Nudge, Wimk, wink !! |
On the straight and level,
To be fair I don't really care whether BMED goes bust or merges or anything of the sort. Good luck to them whatever they decide to do. I do however take offence to orvils attitude. That is all. Orvil,

Folks, this thread should be about BMed - instead, it's becoming a thread about bickering and point-scoring off of each other.
Back on topic now, please... |
I quite like the name " Virgin East"
|
I've tried to read as far back as poss on this thread but where has the idea that some big announcement is coming on the 18th December come from?
|
Well from what i've heard, you lot are all way off the mark
|
18th , The Big News !!
Hey Everyone ,
The big News I have Heard is where .. Starting to fly JFK , I wish :) The News is Where going to be starting a New Route ...And it's Borat Country Again , Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan :{ :) :{ :) :{ . Oh well At least where still got jobs and flying ;) . Take Care All !! And we are getting a New A321 in 2008 , So we will still have to study for both Aircraft types till the baby A320's all go . |
Oh well could be worse - at least not Africa :bored:
|
A little BMED info !!

Oh God wait till you do Freetown it's  . But the Manager is lovely and we have a crew room , :bored: ..But the drink will numb the pain !!..And KRT , Thats another topic and you will see and no drinking allowed so a four day trip will be boring . Just take your own food for KRT and Towels , The Towels are clean but there more like a face towel . And TV is Bad in Freetown eg , 1 channel and in KRT the TV is like BEY/AMM . |
Just out of curiosity, can you bid for some specific destinations or does the rostering department decide what you get?
|
Hey.
You Can bid for trips or Day's off , And
BMED is very flexi with hoildays and Bank Holidays . Well I'm always lucky, As I always get days that I want ..Just gotta to use a bit of charm ;) 35 Days Hoildays and you also get 8 Days Bank Hoildays on top of your leave (48) and wrap around days , One day before your leave starts and one day after your leave , All in All very good . |
Getting a new A321 in 2008 is not news, BMED were supposed to be getting one in 2007/08/09/10. Not sure now but hardly ground breaking!
From what I have heard I wouldn't be too sure about the new route coming quite yet..... |
:ugh: :ugh: :ugh:
It's just a little News !! Yes it might be gossip but it's news , Full stop . Now off to bed , After a great night out with fab crew  |
Hey BMED LHR
Hey you....
Glad to hear you had a great trip........... Good to hear the gossip that potentially there will be a trip to Astana! One question though...why is there the rumour...driven by a senior BA director that Baku and Almaty are coming back to BA mainline as of next winter? He mentioned this with a series of other routes/frequency increases on the BA network. Just checking if you have heard this? |
Now Thats News !!
Hello There ...
Most of my flights are not full except Amman .It's been a bad year for BMED ,Baku flights are 50/50 and Almaty are about the same , But saying that if Almaty was direct service on a 767/777 the flight's might go full as it would be direct . And Dakar/Freetown are empty (19 passenger's both ways ) , This is because BA/BMED have not done any Advertising about the new destination's. And one of the Passengers told me it was only by chance that he saw BA/BMED are flying to Dakar and Freetown now . And he said the Baggage allowance is to little 32kg as to the other British Airline that services the same destination direct , And there Baggage is 60 kg per Passengers , I dont know if this is fact though . My Captain on my last trip said Astana and I think another city close to Baku , (I'll try and get the name :bored: ) that would be a possible route . Oh its all glamour ..!! Come on BA give us a nice route , It does make me Laugh how we push our Aircraft to the Max . I think if we had slide rafts on our Aircraft anything would be possible :) , I wonder if BA started Baku And Almaty do you think they would transfer maybe another two routes to BMED . Are there any BA routes going out empty these days ?? Oh and where not getting a Christmas meal at BMED this year. If your working Christmas just a free ticket .. Little sad, but if it saves the company money so be it ! I'll try get some more info but your's is very interesting;) Take Care ... |
The reason BA dropped Baku, Almaty and other routes like that is that they couldn't make money sending a 767 or 777 down there.
If BMED aren't getting many passengers going that way using small Airbuses and one stop there is no way that, even with a direct Almaty, BA would be able to make money on that using a 767 or 777!!! I would think BA have better uses for their 76's and 777's than sending them to BMED type places, such as using them to the USA or somewhere like that. |
The only BMED-esque route on the BA mainline network is Tripoli, and this won't be transferred over as;
1) BA make a lot of money on this route 2) BMED aircraft can't handle the club volume on this route (50+) 3) BA shorthaul crew can operate the service on an Airbus, non-stop and within the same day. The rest of the middle east/africa/asia is doing fine for BA mainline. For reasons that Sonic Cruiser has mentioned above, BA are not very interested in BMED routes, as long as BMED continues to fly most of them. The only route with potential for transfer at the moment is THR, as BMED aircraft aren't ideal and there is a possibility of using the longhaul 767 either direct, or as in the past, via LCA. |
I don't think BMED can compete with the likes of KLM and Luthansa on some of its routes. BA if it took them back probably wouldn't either.
Unfortunatly for BMED, as people have mentioned, is that the competitors have caught up. Hopefully BMED will be able to diversify and look elswhere to make money as its tradditional markets are becoming harder and harder to compete in. This thread is becoming more like one that should be in the Airlines, airports and routes forum............... :hmm: Back to the cabin crew....:ok: |
The simple fact is that BMED are losing out in name, on some of these routes. Baku may go half full in the cabins, but they go full for cargo...now the last time I heard, cargo was a lot more lucrative than passenger travel. You have to look at the bigger picture what we think is not neccessarily the whole issue.
I agree that the volume of traffic might not be high, but if these routes can be serviced with a reduced frequency, but on larger a/c do you then not think that BA would do it? It would be an illusion on your part to think they have not at least examined the possibilities. There is also a need for this, hence the recognition for larger a/c by BMED. It's not like they have not mentioned the need to have larger a/c operating their routes...am I wrong Still I hope that for everyones sake at BMED that the December 18th announcement brings some joy..... |
Larger aircraft would only work on some of BMED's routes, if it were to get larger aircraft I imagine it would be to go elswhere as well.
I am sure BA does examine BMED type routes all the time but at the moment can't see where they will get the spare larger aircraft from as unlikely they would pull one of their routes to free up an aircraft for a BMED type route. Anyway, maybe I am wrong, will wait and see. Still can't see where the news of an anouncement on Dec 18th has come from, companies don't set a specific date to announce plans about their future etc. What happens if the plans don't work out by that point? Would look a bit silly if they said they would announce such and such on a date and then the plan didn't work out in time so there wasn't anything to announce!!!! |
Talking about training courses being postponed.....im starting in less than 2 weeks!!
|
Thats good news that training courses are starting again at BMED, maybe things are on the up again!
|
Yea....sounds like BMED are gonna be great to work for!! I cant wait now!! Course starts on the 27th!! WOO HOO!! Cant wait to meet ya all!! Thanx for ya PM DMED....make sure you do come and say hello!!
