Are qantas still recruiting? If so, where can I find the application form? Looked on website and there's nothing about f/a

The base has actually just completed a recruitment drive for 80+ crew last week.

Thanks.

Qantas London base

CabinCrew747 wrote "The base has actually just completed a recruitment drive for 80+ crew last week."

Last week, on a flight AMS/LHR I sat next to a lady who started chatting to me and told me she had an interview for the London base...

Ka.Boom 30th Apr 2013 00:22

Well Well

I stand corrected
Perhaps a London Dubai Berlin Dubai London pattern is in the wind...?
Recruitment indicates two things...growth or attrition.
Fatigue and subsequent upline sickness seems to also be a factor
Any one know which it is ?

Mick Strigg 8th May 2013 09:43

This new DXB short stopover is playing havok with crew health. Surely they must do something about this before they have so many off sick that they cannot operate!

vctenderness 8th May 2013 12:05

What is the slip pattern then?

A night stop Dubai and then what length of duty day?

QueenBuzzzzz 9th May 2013 02:02

The QF2/1 is an arrival time of 07:20am, then a 17:15 hour slip, then a report time of 01:05am, then a 9 hour duty.

The QF 10/9 has a 39 hour slip, or continues down to Melbourne for a full 8 day pattern.

Massive recruitment about to take place in Oz as well.

A380-800R 10th May 2013 03:37

I think you'll find that the large recruitment in OZ for the 380 is due tothe fact that Australian based crew will commence flying through to Londonshortly. The high sick leave and fatigue issues of the London base with the dayslip in Dubai and the fact that crew are starting to leave in droves to flywith BA, will lead to the eventual closure of the base.

Massive recruitment about to take place in Oz as well.
At present positions advertised are an EOI only
The positions will be most likely be for domestic bases in Perth or Adelaide

QueenBuzzzzz 10th May 2013 10:33

No, the positions are for QCCA A380 Sydney and Melbourne bases. We received emails today asking us to recommend friends and family to apply.

Apparently London recruitment start dates are on hold until the end of year.

I also believe we'll start to cross crew to increase efficiency, well, I'd like to hope so!

LHR Slips

8 Day patterns to LHR now confirmed for SYD and MEL based Crews
Slips in DXB both ways

Uk crew?

So does this mean aus crew will operate dub to lhr sector? Qantas has just finished 2 weeks of AD's in London!
What was the point of that?
Fire at?

Firecat 31st May 2013 04:46

Oz Based Crews to LHR

Oz Crews will operate DXB LHR Sector according to my sources
There is also rumours of EK leasing a/c to QF to operate sectors between
DXB and European ports where EK either has no rights or has used all available slots.
Berlin comes to mind
Anyway interesting times and hopefully some growth for mainline

Chopper133 31st May 2013 06:28

Uk base

So if the aus crew are operating the dxb lhr flights there will be no need to have a uk crew at all? So big redundancies on the way to the uk crew?

Big waste of time running the recruitment days in the uk for more cabin crew and an even bigger waste for the people that went to them

Flying Daruma 31st May 2013 09:25

I think we will be cross crewing but I don't think there will be redundancies happening in LHR. There's currently a lot of people who are finishing their 2 year contract from AUS base and returning home. This means that they will have reduced numbers and cross crewing is most likely the temporary solution as they sort out the recruitment for QFCC UK.

Please remember it can take up to 3-4 months to recruit & train crew. It doesn't mean there will be redundancies or that we won't be hiring simply because LHR trips are appearing on the upcoming roster.

QueenBuzzzzz 31st May 2013 21:27

Flying Durama is spot on. The LHR trips out of Sydney are only twice a week and 50/50 SYD and LHR crew. This makes the LHR base more efficient and certainly doesn't spell the end of the LHR base. OZ crew may be going all the way through to LHR, but on the flip side LHR crew are also coming all the way to OZ.

It's a positive thing for both bases.

It also may only be temporary, as it has been in the past.

Cross Crewing

Will lift the standard of service in one base and lower it in another....lol

Chopper133 1st Jun 2013 05:29

Sounds more positive from you guys. Fingers crossed eh!

Happy Flying!

A380-800R 2nd Jun 2013 01:17

No there certainly won't be any redundancies at the base, just a gradual reduction in numbers and I doubt very much there will be anymore hiring. Rumour has it that the QF 9/10 maybe pulled due to horrible load factors and the aircraft deployed elsewhere. Anyway only time will tell.
