MEL group interviews today

Hi there, first time I have posted, spoke with a friend that had this account and offered.

Went to group interviews in Melbourne today, EK ladies were nice and made us feel welcome.

Same thing as posted before, but EK seem to be hireing older guys now. There were like 50 of us, with elminations, i think we ended up with only 9, two of them ( the nicest guys ) made it. Lot's of fun people, most of us wore black suits and white blouse. Looked like we were in uniform already. Final interviews will be next week.

Good luck!

EK INterview

Hi, I know this has been answered a million times. But i will like to know if anyone of u here who did not wait up for 6mths but gone for next open house and made it.

I wasnt successful in the recent one and dun really wanna wait for 6mths. Will we be asked to leave IMMEDIATELY? Or blacklisted for life if we attemp it before 6mths is up.

Im from Singapore and already thinking of making my way to the next Open House in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

What do u guys think? Advice please.

SkySista 17th Aug 2005 08:55

Erin, it sounds perhaps like the paper was the psych quiz which I'm told is randomly given out. Not sure if there's any significance behind who gets it though. I think it was mentioned earlier in the thread.... :}

reenita 17th Aug 2005 16:08

hi erin..congrats and good luck...:) did u go for the kl sherraton session?how many people got in that day? well i was upset that whole day..dont know..maybe not fit in enough for cabin crew:rolleyes: i may go for the next one in jb!see how it goes...:yuk:

erinheng 17th Aug 2005 16:11

Not to mention waiting 6 months,though just 6 weeks I already feel like going for the next open session...haha!!!:}

about the test yaa...we did take a psychometric test which is compulsory..around 100 + questions to be answered in an hour..

I was late :(

I was late for my final interview! I can't believe this either! Being late, no matter 5 minutes or 5 hours, is still late. So even though I was late for 5 minutes, I think I really screwed up my chance of making it through. :(

I bet my file is not gonna be send to the senior management in Dubai at all! And I bet no one has been in my shoes before! Who dares to be late for your final interview with Emirates?!! Sigh... Too bad for me. I suck. ::{

reenita 19th Aug 2005 14:31

hello

erinheng 22nd Aug 2005 06:32

Hi, Reenita,
yup..this is my very 1st attempt...just go with confidence but not egoism..make friends around,be nice and be yourself..or else u will be too tired to continue as its a long hours interview... thats what i think that gets me in..haha~

gotta get my hands on the lengthy medical check up~ :hmm:

Rejection letter?

If one is unsuccessful at the final interview, will she receive a rejection email from Emirates? I have heard quite a variant of hearsay...

1) There is a rejection email
Something that says "...you have unsuccessful at the final interview..."

2) There is no reply from Emirates at all
Which means if they did not call or email you to offer you the job, the default understanding is that you have been unsuccessful at the final interview. Of which you should automatically realise you can only reapply for the position in one year's time.

Anyone with past experience, any take on this?

Emirates interview - hard facts- let this thread stand alone

I have been looking at the main Emirates thread and it looks a mess with little information and a lot of chit chat, therefore i am starting this thread for tips on how to get that job at Emirates.

i have an interview approaching on 10th sept in London and would like people who work for emirates and those who have attended recruitment sessions to share tips and advice on what to do and what not to do- SPECIFIC TO EMIRATES

Also what they are looking for in particular?? (example- i have experience of 2 charter airlines and recently got offered a job with BA which i turned down as it was only short haul- i went to a ryanair interview for the experience and myself along with two other ex flyers were unsucessfull against an army of foreign people some of which didnt have any qualifications or could even speak the language properly- obviously didnt want to train ex-flyers).

i need to get this job as it is a dream, and would like other people to benefit also.

i will start the thread with some info i found specifically regarding the group exercises.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
anything (group finding) stand up, don’t look at the interviewers but the people your presenting to. We were asked to split money we had won in the lottery. I noticed both groups gave a % to charity, you must have some understanding of the charity you are setting up/ supporting otherwise you’ll look like a genuine airhead!

You are the captain of a boat and you come across a lifeboat. In the lifeboat are five people. You can only save 3, who will you save?

Elizabeth 28, supermodel and film, married to a politician

Ted 58, specialized heart surgeon

Emma 12, IQ 150

Father Dan 32, well known for his good work with the elderly

Dr John 62, on the verge of a cure to cancer.

Work out whom to save (without taking votes). Again if you make eye contact with them they hate it. They sit right behind you, so try and distract yourself with the task and wear deodorant! We had to do 2 like the above, I found it really good fun. Contribute or they will ask you a question. I found by acknowledging a good point somebody else makes you will also demonstrate your ability to recognise a good idea your ability to encourage team members. Try and organise yourself (avoid doing this yours self tho, coz if you stuff it up you look really silly) or someone else to watch the time, and if possible be the person that reads out the task, first one to speak always scores point). Try to think on your feet, like who would least want to be saved?
The next task was pretty much the same, patients waiting for heart surgery that type of thing.

You get the idea. They give you the opportunity to ask some question. I tried to draw on their personal experiences as crew after all everybody loves to talk about themselves

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

any info key to being successfull in this 'preliminary selection session' as well as final interviews will be most appreciated

ive been hearing rumours that EK go to a place with a specific type of person in mind to recruit, and it changes with each recruitment day depending on their needs. no, this isnt exactly fair, and no, i dont know what types they are looking for. its all a bit of a gamble anyway, but because so many people want to join EK, i guess they can be picky and get away with it.

just go there and be your friendliest self. first impressions count....
