EK Photographs

Hi

Can anyone tell me what photographs you have to take with you for the final interview i.e. what size they have to be, how many and what type?

Many thanks

PaulE 16th Dec 2003 03:03

Hi there flyer2042,

Im not too sure.
But I'd assume they will use the ones you submitted at the Open day (if you attended) Other than that Im pretty sure its a head shot (passport size) and a full body. But please dont quote me on that!

****I have a prelim interview in JAN, and would love to hear from anyone else going or anyone who has been through the prelim process with EK. Please feel free to private message me for any suggestions, pointers or just general EK chat*****

I hope everyone is well, please take care.

Paule
:D

Hey SG - thank you once again, I will be in contact in a few days!

SocialFlyer 16th Dec 2003 13:33

Hi Flyer2042

The photos that you submit at the Final Interview are the most important of all. If you make it to the final interview it usually means that the Recruiters are thinking of making a "recommendation" to senior management in Dubai to employ you. Senior Management will look at these photos and make a decision based on them..

I know in the past many people have applied online and submitted poor quality photos. When they attended the final interview the recruiters asked them to take photos again. My opinion is make sure you are staisfied with the quality of your photos. Are you in a suit? Do you have a smile that looks welcoming? Are all physical features clear ie.. sking, hair, etc... Obiously the better your photos the more committed it appears that you are to get the job...

Good luck with it all and feel free to ask anymore more questions.....

Cheers

Hey Social !

Thanx for the reply. I didn't attend an open day , but I have been invited along to a prelim interview and was told that if I am successful then the final interview will be held the next day. I'm commuting to London from Ireland so I want to take the pics with me ( on the off chance I get through ! ) Do you know how many and what size/type of photos I need ?
Thanks again for your help !

Paule my interview is on the 19th.

e-mail from someone at emirates recruitment???

Hi everyone,

I'd like to ask you guys if anyone has an e-mail address of someone from Emirates recruitment dept. preferably of someone in high place...the manager recruitment himself maybe... But anything would use... If you can help please pm me if you think it wouldn't be appropriate to put this e-mail addresses in public.

Thx in advance, drive safely ;)

Photos...

Hey Flyer...

You will need 2 photos...

Usually 1 Full Body Colour Shot, preferably standing front on.. Make sure your hands are not covering your waist, they should be two the side or behind your back... They are funny about applicants who cover the waist/groind area....

The 2nd photo should be a Head and Shoulder Shot. Many people say a passport photo will do, however it should be more like a portrait style photo which clearly shows your features and excellent grooming standards...

One of each type photo will do, however I would take some variety and let the recruiters choose what they want. The recruiters are actually very good with helping you out wit the photos...

Good Luck on the 19th and Let me know how you go... It would be a great Christmas present.....

Cheers

SocialFlyer

PS...PaulE Good luck in Jan with the interview, I'm sure you will be fine... Be yourself and have fun...

flyer2042 17th Dec 2003 22:11

Thanks for all your help and advice social - it's proving invaluable.

Just one last question - sorry to be a pain ! But what way would you recommend that guys wear their hair to the interview ? I currently have my hair short and messed up with a small amount of gel - would that be appropraite or a bit too modern/ funky for a muslim airline ?

A stupid question I know - but it's the small things that matter ! haha

thanx ! Fingers xd for the 19th !

Hair...

Hey Flyer....

Here are some tips that may come in handy.. These are actually from they were posted on this forum a while ago so I thought i would re post them. The information was provided by a crew member who has been with the organisation for more than 4 years and has a great deal of knowledge..:

Guys - Neat Business attire a must, remember polish your shoes, nails should not be too short and clean (they will be looking), hair neat not below collar length, don't use too much product on your hair, keep it a little natural looking, definitely clean shaven, side burns should be shorter rather than long. DO NOT WEAR RINGS, if so then just simple ring will suffice in silver not gold, a nice complimentary watch that isn't too bulgy

Ladies - nice business attire again, skirt should be around knee length (not too short, remember its not a modelling interview), try to match your lipstick with your nails, preferably a reddish or neutral tone, make up should compliment your features, don't have wild colours as eye shadow, no dangly ear rings, studs only and one ear ring on each ear, long hair should be tied back in a bun, no pony tails longer than collar length, short hair should be neat and tidy.

I hope this gives a little more insight into what they are looking for.....

Cheers

Hi everyone

Im an EK crew and when we were checking into our Sydney hotel on 25Nov there were alot of people waiting in the lobby to attend an open day interview. Im just wondering if anyone is on the site and to find out how the day went.

Best of luck!

englishflyboy 28th Dec 2003 22:25

Emirates, but not the usual stuff

All the best for the season everyone.

I have a question to anyone that can answer me. It is about EK but not your usual.

I was offered the job with Ek in Sept/Oct this year (received contract/ Start Date etc etc) but due to personal reasons had to turn down their offer. All throughout the process I kept them informed in DXB what was going on etc etc

I was just asking if anyone knew whether they allow reapplications, they have said that they do, but that came from DXB. Was just wondering if it would go against one for turning it down in the first place??

Anyone who has been in a similar situation/ has any answers would be much appreciated.

Also to all those that are going through the process at the moment, good luck and I hope it goes well. One thing I can say is that the information posted on here, really does help!

Happy new year :D

Pam747 29th Dec 2003 00:05

Emirates, but not your usual stuff...

Hey Englishflyboy,

Yes, you can re-apply. One of my best friends was also in your situation and when the contract arrived, she had to decline their offer due to personal reasons. Once everything at home sorted itself out, she re-applied, was invited for an interview, and was offered the job again. :ok:

englishflyboy 29th Dec 2003 21:20

Thanks for taking the time to reply pam, glad to know that it can happen. Will give them a call in the new year, just dreading the interview again lol.

all the best

oh one thing, did your friend have to go through the group and the 1-1 or just the 1-1?

crazysapphire 29th Dec 2003 23:43

try calling them

Hiya englishflyboy,

Just try calling them and tell them about your situation..heard from a friend of mine that she used to have a friend who manage to get the job but had to turn it down due to personal reason and when she's ready, she called EK and was told that she only need to re-submit her medicals ..heard she's in training now...

Best of luck!

Cheers

goofy76 31st Dec 2003 17:44

Firstly congrats on making it thru first time around.

I wouldnt waste time applying for a second time. Just contact the recruitment department and let them know of your situation. We're so short of crew at the moment they may not make you go through the whole scenario again. There was a media release the other day that they have 1000 cabin crew positions to fill over the next 12months.

englishflyboy 2nd Jan 2004 02:09

Thanks for your posts guys

I think I will get the new year out the way and give them a call. I saw the press release the other day, 1000 new crew by mid 2004, so hard work ahead I think

all the best

reference no.

As everyone probably knows i have a new job. I've tried to update my details on the EK website to let them know but it wont let me update. It says my reference number is not recognised even though I know i'm using the right one.

EK @ Paris / Amsterdam

Ok, I know everyone is tired of the Emirates stuff, but I have a quick question though:

has anyone been to the open days in Paris? I would like to know if it is like other open days described here (LON/SIN/...) ie very very crowded?

another question pops into my mind:

Does anyone know if they are doing open days in Holland soon? I know they did some before...

and another one:

Are they still doing pre-eliminary interviews upon invitation for the moment, or are they concentrating on the Open Days.

Ok, once again, sorry to bother you all (again) with this EK questions but I didn't find any answers on these yet. So please excuse me!

crazysapphire 3rd Jan 2004 21:02

Is something wrong with EK website???

Hi ,

U are right about the error message.Actually , i updated my new email address on 28Dec03 but till 2day received no confirmation that my changes have been updated.when i went again to the website, its says that the information given does not match with the records in their database...I guess its due to the New Year, or their database has a bug..hehehehe..

Emirates Open Days...

Hi Guys,

Here we go again...... Advertised recently in The Australian was the latest Open Days for Emirates... The Website for EK has not listed these so I thought I would post them for those interested... I'd rather not comment on the Open Days myself, however think it's up to people to make up their own mind if they should attend or not.... It's good to see that EK are expanding and interviewing canditates in other areas who deserve a chance at employment (ie.Cairns).... Cheers Good Luck and for those who attend keep us all posted..

quite possible

Yeah i am a bit worried about that. I think I might call them and tell them the problem because I have very significant changes in my work history. I dont think there are many better careers then the one I am in now when positioning yourself into ....getting your wings.

gege 4th Jan 2004 22:28

I updated my details just yesterday and I've got an automated reply. So I reckon it was processed, so maybe the problem is fixed now.... perhaps you should try again

gal81 5th Jan 2004 10:09

hi,

im new here but i have been following this thread for quite sometime....i would really appreciate any input to my questions...

i am invited to atttend a preliminary interview with emirates on 25th in malaysia..

the thing is i got my hair coloured to a light shade of brown...it's not too drastic..but quite obvious....

so is it advisable to go for the interview with my hair like this or should i colour my hair back to my natural black...and i have my nose pierced..so should i get rid of my nose stud as well? Please help
Thanks alot!!!

exmax 5th Jan 2004 15:02

I don't know much about EK recruitment, but judging from what I've read so far on this thread, if I were you, I would take that nose ring out and go natural with the hair.

Good luck.

EK walk in interviews...

I don't really know much about what the day entails, but I recommend you go really early because from what I've heard, and I'm sure many pruners can vouch for this, alot of people turn up, and many get turned away. As for what to wear, dress business like. A smart suit, skirt to the knees, blouse, tights, court shoes, and preferably matching handbag. Take with you a copy of your Resume in a folder and most importantly WEAR A SMILE:D . Please don't feel that you are in competition with the other candidates, because you are not. Emirates are looking to recruit approximately 1000 crew by mid year so there are plenty vacancies available. Best of luck, and please let us know how you get on:ok:

There is so much info about the EK interview on this forum, lots of good tips from others who attended interviews in the past. Try entering emirates into the search and you should find everything you need.
Hope you are successful on the day

Ranjha, why are you 83 now? Have you replicated? Are there 82 more of you?
Seriously, the above advice is great, just be yourself and relax, don't worry so much!

Keep in touch, "Peaches"

Ranjha83 10th Jan 2004 19:44

does any one know what happens on the walk in interview day and what expect like, how long does the CV got to be etc..
 thanks

yellow rocket 12th Jan 2004 05:38

Apply online instead

Arrive at least an hour early.

The doors will open and you can walk in and take a seat with the other 500 or so who will show up. One by one you can walk to the front and hand over your cv to the two ladies who usually do the recruiting. They will only ask if your name and contact number are on the CV, and check that your photos are there. Then you go back and sit down.

Next, they'll play a video about EK, followed by a question and answer session.

That's it. Wait for a phone call.

To be honest, if you don't get asked via the online application form to an invitation assessment, then I wouldn't bother going. The day attracts lots of weirdos, and the two women who do the recruiting have an unusual habit of selecting girls who look just like themselves.

Emirates Walk In Interviews

Hi Guys,

Emirates has walk-in interviews scheduled for:

Sheraton Hotel Perth
February 14 at 0900

It is suggested that you dress in formal business attire and bring along a copy of your CV. You should also take along one full length photograph (as described on the website) and one photograph showing head and shoulders only (passport size)

You should be prepared to be there the whole day. or possibly even come back the next day for the next interview stage.

So guys update those CVs and spend Valentines day with Emirates!!!

Cheers,

Shaggs

I'll see you guys there! is it far from the Aarons Hotel Perth?

I would love to work for emirates as cabin crew. However i am 31

GO FOR IT JAM!!!! Trying is never a waste of time! Go to their open day and ENJOY, whatever the outcome. You will never know if you never try!

Elle 2nd Feb 2004 09:48

I just typed out a long reply and the screen went back to blank!

Basically my story is that I turned 33 last week, a very young, fit and healthy one, who is always told that I look between 25 - 27 :O Take after my Mum I guess.

Anyway, over email and phone I was told by ladies at two FA Support Centres in Australia that I am too old. What a load of rubbish. Anyway they say that Emirates would look at my age and wouldnt bother going any further with me.

The thing that annoys me is that at 33 I know what I want out of life, I know that I don't want to settle down, have babies... I want to relocate, work as a FA and totally get into the lifestyle...of the Company I'm working for.

I feel that in your 30s you have been through a fair bit and most would have some understanding of what life is about (at times) and know what it is that you want.

So, theres my little spit! :*

onlyemirates 2nd Feb 2004 10:55

yes most of us understand, but that is the fact of life Emirates discriminates, so move along to another carrier

Yes OnlyEmirates, I know people understand and yes I have moved on....I was answering the post from jam123 and don't appreciate your pointless reply to my post.

I have absolutely nothing against Emirates, think they are a great Airline to travel on and have friends that work for them.

Emirates Interview

EUPHEMIA,

It's been a while since I last popped in and had a read.

I have been working for Emirates for the past 3 months and am 29 turning 30 this year. One of my work colleges who was at the same interview as me and started a week after I joined has just turned 32.

My advice is that if you sent your cv into Emirates there is not a big chance that you will get an invite and my suggestion is that you rock up to their open days. If you are fit and healthy and are passionate about getting this job YOU WILL GET IT.

It took me two seperate open days to get the job and 7 months inbetween interviews but here I am and loving every day and feel very fortunate to have this opportunity.

Please feel free to send me a message.

Amy:D :D :D :D :D
