From what I have heard and correct me if I'm wrong, but the next AO interviewing session will be mid March. They have many applications to sort through and the process has been halted till then. I wouldn't worry as they don't really need additional crew till the 5th a/c arrives in July. This gives them plenty of time to interview and recruit and train. I know the wait is hard but this is the industry.

The first groud school starts on 10th March, this will mainly be language speakers.
The next ground school is due to start aprox. 6 wks after this.
I had my interview on 19th Feb, did my medical and security checks last week and now the wait begins
When I did my interview there was talk of an active hold file being started as well... obviously with new planes on the way they will need more crew and the current employees are about to start their first round of holidays.

I don't know any one on the March 17th school, but I know of someone who will be starting on March 31st.
Maybe this means there will be two schools running at the same time, only two weeks apart? The first two weeks of training are in Cairns, then the following two are in Sydney. The final week is back in Cairns.
My current employer was phoned this week for a reference check and the girl doing the check told her that there was to be a full training day before applicants proceed to the 'job offer' stage?? These days will be about 2-3 weeks away.
This is what I've heard, the truth may be different.

I applied sent express post on the 19th of Feb. I didn't enclose a copy of my passport! 1 week later AO rang and asked if i could sent a copy of my passport details! Isn't that sooo NICE of them! :-) YAY YAY AO!!! :-) - I'm guessing interviews are mid march

I received a call this morning for an interview in Cairns on the 27th. Am about to book my flights, which is quite costly. Does anyone know what the conditions are for a position with Australian? ie pay,hours etc? Does anyone work for them that could give an insight into the Cairns lifestyle?

I dont work for AO but lived in Cairns for a while during my travel's. Its a great place to live lots of social life, plenty of places of intrest to see rainforests beaches and plenty of touristy spots. Its a great relaxed lifestyle.
