Weight issues?

Has anyone on here been told to keep the weight off or they will lose their job?

Well aliciab, that would be illegal in most jurisdictions, and while you might find company training programs that suggest keeping the weight off for personal and professional reasons, to threaten a job would be a human rights violation.

Yep, in my part of the world, female flight attendants are required to stay within the green BMI band, if they aren't, they are given a written warning and 12 months to achieve it, if they still haven't, then they get 3 months unpaid leave, after that they will be terminated if they haven't achieved it.

Pilots also have to have a BMI of 30 otherwise they might have to undergo all sorts of additional annual medical tests.

It definitely happens in the Middle East. One particular airline will call you in for a performance review, grade you IR (Improvement Required), give you an impossibly short time to lose the weight, and then fire you for not MEETing your performance objectives.

This airline even applies the BMI-30 Rule to its pilots. If you're 50 years or older, neck size 43 cm or more, and BMI 30 or more, they will ground you and send you for sleep apnea testing at your own expense. This testing can run for months long and they stop paying you once you've been grounded for 30 days.
