Compliance With Crew Instructions
I recently flew Delta and I'm sure the safety video said FAA regulations require you comply with crew member instructions, placards and lit signs. Can you tell me if we have a legal obligation inthe UK for pax to listen and kbrh our instructions? If so can you refer me to the relevant CAA rule/annex?

The ANO (Air Navigation Order) makes it a criminal offence to ignore the instructions of the Captain where it comes to the safety or regularity of the flight. This responsibility is effectively delegated to cabin crew when carrying out mandated safety functions such as the demo or ensuring adherence to seat belt signs as you are acting on the Captains authority in accordance with his instructions. This is all the authority you need.

So if the cabin crew tell you to "sit back and relax" (yerrccch!) you could be prosecuted if you tried to work, or sat forward in your seat?
Another good reason not to speak nonsense on the PA...

My dear old Dad used to say that you engage your brain before you open your mouth. The same could be said about typing on an Internet forum.
When you read what I wrote and work out what "safety and regularity" mean you will understand why your question is irrelevant as it has already been answered.

Sadly most US FAs act as law enforcement. I've have FAs ask me to throw a pax off an airplane for not turning of the phone.
Most of the time I'd rather throw the FAs off the aircraft.

It would only seem sensible to listen to those who have your comfort and safety in mind. If someone requires the law to convince them to listen, I would suggest they have much greater personal issues to deal with.
By all means ask why you've been asked to do something before you decide you know better and simply ignore your crew.
As crew, we're not preoccupied with the reasons of your travel, the emails you need to write, the calls you need to make or the size of your bladder. So we're there if your priorities may compromise your safety and that of those around you.
