Question When Should I Wear Uniform??

hello!

First of all I wanna say howdy as I've just joined this forum!

Second of all I'm getting paranoid because I'm due to start with VS next month (ground crew LHR) but I'm so confused. The training pack says that I have to order my uniform 2 weeks in advance so that I can wear it to training but the uniform department at LGW say that I wont be wearing it to training, I will start wearing it when everyone else does before we go out on the floor.

Which one is right? I dont want to be the only one turning up for training in my civvies when everyone else is decked out in their lovely red suits!

Love a lady in uniform!....

Why not wear the uniform and take civvies with you in a bag, then if necessary you can change...voila..

this is a good idea only the uniform dept told me that i'll just be trying my stuff on when i have my fitting...they said i wont actually be taking anything away with me on the day, but if thats the case then why was i told in the interview and in the pack that i'll have to wear it to training?

i would call but i'm scared they'll be fed up of me and i havent even started yet lol.

Call again and tell them that you have been given conflicting instructions regarding the uniform and that you would really like them to clarify, as you want to make a good impression on your first day.......how can they be angry for that?

Hello VSGurl, Hope this helps.......

Before you start your training you will need to sort out your uniform I had to call the uniform department and arrange to go for a fitting (i am crew for VS not sure if the same applies for ground staff?). On this day you just try on the uniform for size so will NOT have your uniform for your 1st day of training.

On your first day will be an induction / welcome to the company day so wear smart / buisness dress. During our training we wore smart / buisness dress for the 1st few weeks until everyone's uniforms were ready. Then we collected them from the uniform department @ The Base. They get you to wear your uniform at some point during training so they can make sure you wear it correctly ie. tie tied correctly etc...

Don't worry, the trainers will tell you when your uniform is ready to be collected & when to wear it.

All the best for your training, sure you'll love it

thanks for all of your help and replies!

lostmyvirginity, that sounds about right lol. For some reason I got into a panic today. Don't kno why, I found out about 3 weeks ago that I've got the job and I don't start until the 7th of April but this morning I woke up feeling suddenly nervous about it even though it's my fourth airline job!
