Question AIH to Cancun

Anyone know what type Airtours operates ex- Gatwick for the Cancun run. Am off there in a couple of months & couldn't get any Premium seats, so wondered if they were on the route at all.

Do you mean by type, to be what fleet?

Cancun would normally be on the B767, or A330. Don't know if this is what you mean though.

I'd whittled it down the either the 767 or 330 myself! That was what I was wondering - which one is it that does the route? (Never seen downstairs loos!)

Anyone out there in the gen regarding which one it is, and how I can get (either by charm or money) a comfier seat near the pointy end?!!

TTFN.

Swizle Stick:

It IS normally the B767, BUT a lot of the longhaul has been taken from the Boing Fleet, and has been put onto Airbus, so I really can't say further. (Give AIH a ring? - I'm sure they'll let you know). With regards to a 'seat at the pointed end' - write a concise note, (politely phased!), saying why you'd like a ride in the jumpseat, and hand it to the no1 when you get on, to forward on your behalf. Most of the guys who drive at Airtours are OK, so you may probably have your request granted.

Adios

Cool

There again, do you mean cockpit, or nice comfy emergency exit seat!? If it's the latter, get there at check-in early, & try & reserve one

The Airtours flight deck crews have never refused me a jumpseat ride although I've never sat around for landing (their choice not mine) The A330's lovely piece of kit, loos downstairs and a nice cosy conference area for chatting to fellow pax and cabin crew downstairs as well. The seats on the A330's seem more comfy than other types, maybe cos they are new!

Happy flying!

It is the 330 that operates the CUN out of LGW. Downstairs loos are fab, but boring to work down there for a 9 hour flight.

The comfy front seats I was referring to were the Premier Gold leather ones! My tour operator doesn't hold an allocation of them, so was wondering if anyone operating the flight could help me blag one!!

Having worked & sat in that area before I would sure appreciate it.

Red face

Swizzle stick,

Although it wasn't planned, and I wouldn't recomend it to anyone - when myself and my family (4 in total) flew back to LGW from the Dominican Republic earlier this year, we arrived at the airport very late. As we were (I presume) some of the very last pax to check in, and the flight was full, the check in agent asked us if we would mind(!) if we were upgraded to Premium class.

It goes against everything that people on PPRuNe have previously written, but the only one time I have expierenced being upgraded was the only time we have ever been late!

Reference to your question it all depends on what day u are travelling? if it will be a tuesday then it is the A330, but if it is on a Saturday then it is the 767 luxury liner, if u want exit seats on the 330, reguest Rows 8,31 if you cannot get into Prem gold, on the 767, request Rows 1,13,31 Prem gold will NOT be available on 767 through the winter but will be offered as xtra leg room seats. My advice is to check in about 3hrs b4 departure, then u might be in with a chance, and u will have to be nice to the ticket desk girls.

All the best

Cheers for that info MB. Judging by your indepth knowledge of the exit rows you either fly on them or check them in?

I'm going on a Tuesday, so am looking forward to the 330, however do you know if AIH have it configged 3-3-3?

Cheers again.
