Cabin crew/Flight crew preflight briefing
Do any airlines (especially European) have common pre-flight briefing areas for flight deck and cabin crew and do you usually have a flight/cabin crew briefing before boarding the aircraft?
If so, what are items are discussed?
Do you usually board the aircraft at the same time, i.e. same transport or do you meet on board?
If transport from/to your residence is provided, is it everyone in the same van or are flight crew and cabin crew taken home in separate vans?
Thanks for any info.

CX:
-Seperate briefings pre and post
-Buses to yes but not always (HKG)
-Buses from as above (HKG)
-Outstation: buses to and from airport together unless staying in different hotels.
-Seperate briefings
Once in a while we visit the self loading freight handlers but it is not a requirement.
What is discussed? Anything and everything depending on the crew.
Doing a survey?

It is a requirement under JAROPS that the ENTIRE crew discuss a safety related topic as part of their preflight briefing, although I doubt many airlines adhere to this.
Our flightcrew do a short SEP briefing with the Cabin crew after each have finished their preflight stuff. Topics range from Pilot incapacitation to any recent incidents we have had in the airline.
Cheers

We fly short haul from UK. One room for flight deck and cabin crew. Separate briefings, although the flight deck and cabin crew do converse before going out. Occasionally no info available from company, so flight deck will then give cabin crew relevant info.
Company allows for separate buses to allow cabin crew to go out first, but usually flight deck come in early and so are ready same time as cabin crew, thus almost always use just one bus. Same for going back to crew room - usually flight deck wait for cabin crew and use one bus.

BA-
Report time 1h25 long haul, 1h00 short haul
15 min briefing time for cabin crew, which covers mandatory emergency procedure/first aid checks, allocation of work positions & commercial info...occasionally flight crew pop in just to say hi, but it's rare & separate transport to the a/c as flight crew report later.

Pick up from accomodation is 2 hrs20 mins before ETD arriving at the "office" about 1.45 hrs before ETD
Flightdeck have different briefing room and rarely show their faces until all are through immigration and on the bus to the aircraft.
Briefings are about safety, security and first aid, can often be monopolised by talk about the service, type of pax expected.
Down route... just a quick discussion on the previous flight, new flight details and change of positions.
Make of that what you will.

Right ... just a few corrections to be made to the posting above regarding the briefing procedures at BA. The Flight Crew briefing for shorthaul is NOT 1hr its 1hr 10 mins except when departing from Term4 when its 1hr 15mins and the Cabin Crew report time is 1hr and 10mins (again shorthaul). Also the flight crew DO travel from the Compass Centre with the Cabin Crew assuming they are starting their day with us otherwise if we are joining them after they hav come in from soemwhere else we either see them at the A/c (they would have had their turnaround in our CAT lounge) or we meet them at the CAT lounge (if we are also coming in from somewhere else and going onwards.) The Cabin Crew briefing IS 15 minutes held in a seperate room and as you said SEP, Loads, working positions, special needs and AOB. The flight crew however have a communal area where they go and do their own briefing. They collect their paperwork (SWORD, MET etc etc) and discuss their own safety issues (NOTAMS, alternates etc etc ) Hope this clears up any confusion. "May the night-stops be long and the allowances never ending!!"

Sorry for the confusion LHR colleague....the 1hr report time I referred to was for our EOG s/haul cabin crew colleagues, & 1h25 for Worldwide cabin crew (except for 767 trips where it is 1h40, as we have to watch a ridiculous SEP recency video - those of us on the 767 spend our life on it & are rarely on the -400 & even less the 777). Also, we do have separate transport both to and from the aircraft from Flight Deck at LGW on L/haul flights (when we don't walk to the a/c, which we now do to half the North Term stands). I believe EOG crews do travel to their a/c together. Hope this clears things up.

TLA in Dublin.
1hr 30 mins before for Cabin Crew. 30 mins briefing regarding to SEP, first aid, positions, pax, service. Usually met by flight crew but no separate briefing only flight times, weather, pax load etc.
Same bus to aircraft, sometimes first name terms with all flightdeck and cabin crew, creates a relaxed friendlt atmosphere.
Same bus back to crew room.
Works well
