Angel Message to all EK cabin crew

Dear Flight Attendants, if you are interested in what some of your pilots think of you or your role on the aircraft, look at this link...
http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=295398

The boys with the stripes and the chips on their shoulders seem to think you are there to feed them lots and lots of First Class food. On page 3 of the responses, some bloke is really "upset" that you, as an obviously lower life-form, are - shock and horror- eating a F class meal before HE ALLMIGHTY get his stubby fingers on it first....

What are the rules for this in EK?
Are you drivers actually ENTITELED to F class chow???

I'm not EK. What issues they seem to have! Think they need some serious CRM training for a start..then maybe a role reversal day.

Unbelievable.

Shame on you.

We dont have issues. These people are a small minority and are trying to give the impression of that is how it is in EK.It's not.
The crew and flight deck get along very well however there are a few pilots in EK with 'god complexes' (usually boeing pilots and direct-entry pilots). Unfortunately a few of the minority pilots love posting on this website because they dont have any guts to say it to anyone's face. If a regular EK pilot read this thread they would also be disgusted like we are....

Unfortunately, this is not restricted to EK. I've had the exact same arguements at BA, although not for a few years and I've always has the back up of the CSD. Bottom line, it's my galley, my food and my pax. I'm the one who has to deal with them if they don't have their choice because a crew member ate it. I would always make sure Flight Crew had something left over from First if I had anything available, out of comraderie rather than obligation but really, what can they do if they are refused something they are not entitled to? That said, these situations are few and far between, at least at BA.

It's interesting to know I have a 'god' complex just because I'm on the Boeing!!!! Maybe they issued me one when I got the uniform, can't remember though, perhaps they gave it to me at the same time they gave 'gulfboy' his big spoon to start stirring it up. What a load of cobblers!!!
If you look on the thread he's talking about you will see some real wind up merchants (411A plus may others) that make 'gulfkid' look like an amateur!!
The only way flight crew and cabin crew will ever get on any better at EK is for us to mix better. At the moment the majority of crew that mix with Flight crew are the Pursers / SFS and FG1s - in essence the guys that have been here for more than 5 minutes, the GR1s have to mix on the 2 class config aircraft but you can tell they are not that confident, the more they do it the better!!
It's great to see GR2s making the effort to hike the length of the aircraft, plucking up courage usually for the first time after their 'suppy' trip. Remember by the letter of the law at EK the flight crew are not allowed down the back of the aircraft unless for operational issues, hence you don't se us in the rear galley having a coffee and a chat. Anyway don't forget we are all in it together and we are there to help each other - which comes back to the original point 'are we (by this I mean ALL crew both flight and cabin) allowed to eat F class food' - I'm sure management would say no, however why not, but lets share it please!!!!!
PS Ezychic you have no idea of the cultural / religious / language differences that are commonplace with over 100+ nationalities in the cabin at EK. It has a bearing to all of the CRM issues at EK BUT CRM goes both ways don't just do the easy thing and blame the flight crew!!!!

I can't believe that some of those guys have actually the responsability of flying an aircraft, and here they are talking about food (and water), simply amazing.

I must say, I have never ever came across any of those guys, (the demanding ones), maybe because I always made it clear what was available and when it was available and thigs were arranged from the begining of the flight. You do hear some of those stories but the cabin crew plays a big role in it and surely can help in giving this guys an alternative meal if the desired choice is not available.

I also must say that they have always been very flexible in term of cockpit visits and rest, so why not make an effort on the cabin crew side and at least try to arrange something decent and apetizing for them?, "one hand wash the other" and believe me that they are the most amazing people and the ones that will stand up for you when an emergency or a problem happens.

I think that the crew should not pay much attention to those comments and simply try to get along keeping the conversation flow at all times.

Happy flying !!!!

Gulfboy

The one with the 'chip' on his shoulder appears to be you my friend.

And for the record, Cabin Crew is their title.......not flight attendants!

Get a life you loser.

I am a little confused how this reflects on Gulf boy?
Did it touch a nerve harry? Was he the one making the unfair comments?

I read gulfboy's post and then after reading and deciding myself what I think about it made my own comments. I assure you harry it is not gulf boy that needs to get a life in my eyes, but of course I would say that as I also work down the back.

The sad thing is none of you people would ever WILLINGLY say these comments out loud only on a forum, why is that?

I'm a regular EK pilot but I'm not disgusted. The guy wants some scoff, that's all. Big deal. Sounds like Whatzit has an issue with DECs!!

Now that does amuse me. Do you even know what CRM stands for? No idea, have you? A hint: It is NOT about how the pilots can be nicer to the crew although that is what 90% of CC seem to think. Try to stay awake in your next (first??) CRM lesson!

You are! It's in your manual.

Since you clearly have no idea what you are talking about, why didn't you just ask that at first instead of shooting your mouth off? Bit silly, you young twit.

I would. In fact I say things like this all the time, whenever needed. Some people need reminding, that's why!

Smile harry

As far as i know, in America, Canada, Turkey and some parts of Europe, like Belgium, they reffer to Cabin Crew as FLIGHT ATTENDANTS. So back off a bit if i may politely ask you.
Now, and i might be wrong so please correct me, it seems that you dislike or have a not so good opinion about Cabin Crew. If so, why don't you operate on a Freighter?

Let's face it, Cabin Crew needs Flight Decks and the other way around. Aren't we suppose to be a team? Or am I too old fashioned? Where's the respect gone?

I have never encountered rude or too demanding pilots. But maybe i was lucky. My point being don't tar all CABIN CREW as you like (and by all means, it's your right) to call us with the same brush.

Take care

Gulfboy, that's a 45 post thread where most of the contributors agree that it is either a non-issue or an easily resolved one. There 's a few habitual sh!t-stirrers chipping in with their usual silliness/offensive tripe, but by and large there is nothing there that warrants your divisive and tendentious thread starting post here.

So I wonder what motivates you to start a thread with a false premise, designed to sow discord between cockpit and cabin crew.
A stupid thing to do for anyone in the industry IMO.

Why do you do this?

PS: I work as an FA, cabin crew, trolley tart, flying waitress, wagon dragon, stewardess

What this thread needs is for someone you send a quick PM to our old mate 411A so he can give the ladies (and boyz) here the benefit of his unique brand of flight deck wisdom.

Good Grief!

This is an old argument across a lot of airlines and hopefully a redundant one at that.

I tend to meet the pilots that fly us on every flight I do - they come and say hello to me in whichever galley I happen to be working First, Business or right at the a*se end - they come down before we board. I also make the effort to pop and see them unless it involves trudging thru first as that would go against service standards.

But seriously, I'm at BA, but I assume most airlines have the same rules, nobody is entitled to first class food except those who are travelling first class.

When I operate the galley in 1st if there is somethign left I will offer it around, to tech crew and cabin crew, after all we are all just that - crew and a team. Nobody get's first dibs as nobody is entitled to first dibs.

If there are some effluence stirers somewhere on the forum may I suggest we pay them the attention they deserve, ie. none.

Command of an aircraft doesn't immediately get you respect just obedience to a point (where crew orders dictate).

Nor does being a mean crew member who has the motto "W**kers until proven otherwise" with regards the flight deck.

Respect is gained mutually through good interaction - and I believe most pilots and attendants across most airlines have that by now. Indeed all the pilots I have flown with have my respect as well.

God complexes on BOTH sides of the door should be addressed via the normal way not by beatching on forums, which only serves to go against good CRM. Give them feedback in the normal way or address it through their manager.

No. Definately not a hater of Cabin Crew. A great supporter of them, the good ones that is. What I can't stand are the arrogant nonses on both sides of the door who fail to realise that if we all make the effort to respect each others roles then our days in the air would fly by! Hence my remark regarding their title. In EK they're known as that and I personally find the term 'flight attendant' demeaning. They are there as Safety 'crew' first and foremost, then 'attendants'. Some out there think differently however!

My support for Muttley was for his response to the sad loser who started this pathetic thread.
