Hi Lucy

I work as crew for Silverjet and have been with them since the start. As with most airlines it is not necessary to have any experience with a previous airline. I myself had never worked as crew before but have always worked in customer services roles which is the most important thing. We have a mixture of people who have never flown before right up to people who have been flying for 16 years or more. There is also a good mixture of ages. I'm 29 but we have people as young as 19 and also people in their 40s so age doesn't seem to matter.

I hope I've answered all your questions.
Good luck

Angel more info please

hi mefly
im seriously considering applying for silverjet. it's as tho they've given airtravel a boost of glamour again...no trollies, no going a hundred miles an hour on the service because you've got a few hundred monkeys onboard, behaving like children, waiting to go to palma!
however, could you fill me in please on the wages side of things. i've read what the basics are, but what have you been taking home since you've started? are you cabin crew or css or ifm?
also, do you think its possible to live in birmingham and commute? im just thinking about how expensive rent etc would be down luton way??
also, (sorry about the gazillion q's ) do you actually get to go around new york or is it pretty much get to your hotle, sleep and then get back to the airport again?
has there been any talk of capetown as an option for one of their new routes?
i would really appreciate any info you could give me, us here on pprune. many thanx,
x x blueskybird x x

Blueskybird: In answer to your many questions! Yes you can commute from Birmingham. Most of us commute. I don't want to be too specific about pay but obviously it depends on how many flights you do per month as to how well you do. I'm just CC but have been doing quite nicely so far although the next few months are going to be quieter for us.
Yes there's plenty of opportunity to go into New York. The train takes about 45 mins but once our second flight starts we will be using two hotels and the second is much closer.
We don't know where the second route is going to be as it's all top secret. Various different places have been mentioned but they're not giving anything away yet!

Lucy: Don't worry too much about your photos. Mine were just taken outside. Try to look smart but you don't need to wear a suit. Make sure you smile though as that's what is most important.
The day is just the usual group exercise followed by an interview if you get through. Mine was all in one day but I believe they ask you to come back for the interview part now.

I think that covers all your questions. My fingers are aching now so I'm going to stop!

p.s - yes be yourself. Hopefully your a nice friendly person as that will help.

Interview

I have been offered an interview with Silverjet on August 15th. Does anybody know if they are also interviewing the following week as it will be difficult for me to make that date (and I haven't been able to get in touch with HR to try and change it)?

Regrettably, Silverjet has had to postpone the launch of the second service between London Luton and New York Newark, scheduled to start on 31 July. The flights affected are: Y70105, departing Luton at 16:45 and Y70106, departing Newark at 21:55.
The start of these flights has been delayed until late September 2007.
If you are booked on the affected flights, we will be contacting you over the next couple of weeks to rebook you on alternative Silverjet services or to arrange a full refund.
Silverjet apologises for any inconvenience caused and we appreciate your patience while we work to resolve this matter.

SilverJet Interview

SilverJet wrote me an email the week before asking me if I could go to an tinterview the 30 July. At the moment I live in Madrid and the flights for those days were really expensive; so I wrote them telling I couldn't go. I also asked them if the could advise me in advance; but I had no respond.

Could the have add me in a black list??

Thanks you and luck

Interview Offer

I did not get that automated response email, so hopefully that should mean you won't have to wait too long to hear back from them. And I just sent in my CV - I did not attend a selection day. Fingers crossed, eh?

good luck

thats good cause normally you have to go to a selection day before you get an interview do you have cabin crew experience that might be why you got an interview straight away

the automatic response said i should here back within 2-3 weeks so hopefully they won't delay to much after that time

Sillver/ Flyjet.

Hi people i don't think that they should of got rid of Flyjet they should of found some bigger and better aircraft with a bigger range, i think that it might knock Silverjet abit sideways but i wish them good luck for the future.
