Advice for Newbies

I`m about to start training in a couple in a couple of weeks time.

What would be one piece of advice you could offer to me and others that are in a similar situation?

Either seriously or with a bit of humour!

Don't worry just enjoy it!!!

Training can be quite intense but lots of fun. you will meet some great people, who will become good friends, and you will all help each other through it.

i just finished my 5 weeks training course and i have to say that i had an absolutely AMAZING time!!! The course was so much fun and really interesting. there were only 10 of us on the course and we all became so close and really good friends!!! you will have so much to learn every night so the best piece of advice i can give you is to put your life on hold for five weeks - get your head down and study every night, there are tests most days. you only get out what you put in. Most of all though - Enjoy it - relax - they give you all the information that you need to know - and have a great time, hopefully, like me it will be one of the greatest things you ever did!
who you flying for btw?

I did 8 weeks training 6 days a week so it was very intense and I just seemed to be revising all the time but it makes it so much easier if you can revise and test each other once you've made friends with peeps on your course..just makes it more fun..ask ask ask..if you don't get it..ask cos before you know it, you'll be learning a new topic and then when it comes to your practical drill or theory tests you won't know so ask if you don't know..There will be so much to take on at 1st and you really pick it all up as you're flying so don't stress too much..good luck

Thanks for the info so far guys!

Lou I`m going to be flying for Excel, so will be moving to crawley area shortly.

Am doing a cabin crew course at the local college which I`m hoping will be good prep for the airline course.

my advice would be to just enjoy every bit of it. you are starting a career in one of the most interesting and rewarding jobs that exists! each day is very different and packed with challenges and rewards. just please, for me, remember that we are there onboard for our pax. however rude some may be, rise above it and smile. I've seen too many new crew start off keen, customer orientated and then be tainted by the moaners in the galley! just be yourself and always remember why you first wanted to do the job. god I sound like a right old git don't I?! something was told to me many years ago by a wise man and it is this : "although sometimes their manners are from the gutter, just remember that they are our bread and butter" nuff said! happy flying xx
