Cart El,
anything is possible, but............
the most junior are about 4-5 years. They have now seen what the Company are prepared to do in the name of the bonus dollar.
They have experienced 1st hand back to back Africas, they saw how the former line managers were treated when they worked for the Company during a dispute and the thanks they got - a demotion.
Everyone heard what happenned to the crews and how they had to argue for their conditions on the JFK shuttle that spent 12 hours taxiing around JFK.
They may have issues with seniority but I think everyone is aware of how important it is to remain part of a large group and be represented by a union rather than attempt to negotiate for themselves. Look what the Jet* pilots had to offer to get a start.
Job security and decent conditions are more important than selling out for the short term to get the trips you want.
This is all the more reason why the FAAA should address this trip allocation system now rather than wait for some idiots to undermine us.
I dont think it will happen but then again I never thoought J* would sign on for what they did.

Flyagain, comments that are anti union and political are only going to deter crew drom reading the cabin crew news or encourage them not to take it seriously. The Company will start to lose any respect it still might have from crew.

I have attended every union meeting possible in the last 10 years or so and have never heard a push for getting rid of the seniority bid system.

On aircraft even flying with the most junior of crew i dont hear them screaming to get rid of it either.

For the majority of crew i am sure that it is something that they think about from time to time but an "allocation" system is not the answer,

The new CARMEN software that the company is purchasing for its operations areas may provide some options for crew in terms of trip swaps and a rannge of other benefits but that is a few years off yet.

By throwing out the system now will still not bring about those changes becuase the company doesnt have the software capable yet.

Why dont we see how things change after the shake up of the VR coming in a couple of weeks (rumour) and see what the rosters look like once a few old timers get their well deserved retirement.

I for one will be happy for them as i think if it occurrs it will certainly be the last and i guess many have earned it.

For once I have to agree with Pegasus , for those who are thinking that an allocated system is the panacea for their concerns and problems ,think again…

Any new system that the company proposes will have more hidden clauses than a politician has faces. Is there any real doubt that the crew taking this action have not been encouraged by the company. The only group that will definitely benefit from the demise of seniority is the company.

However, once the company has achieved that,do you think they will stop there?

Does anyone here (by that I mean anyone who is a real crew member and not someone pretending to be) think that a new system of rostering will not have a number of other points the company wants to address included.

The company will basically tell crew what they think the crew want to hear and omit other less palatable details.Let’s keep our eye on the ball and who is really out to reduce our conditions and what the real threats are.

I may not be happy at times with the direction the faaa takes but now is not the time to divide ourselves because that is exactly what the company wants and would like to achieve.

And on that happy note, our time in this forum with QF has now come to an end: For an extended period of time, the forum mods have tolerated a level of behaviour on this (and previous) threads that is as infantile as it is irritating, to both mods, and more importantly, the other users.

A small group of users have gathered together to bully and browbeat anybody who holds an opinion even slightly at variance with their own: This in turn has attracted the sort of lunatic fringe that enjoys stirring up trouble by winding them up. Everybody else has looked on with weariness and frankly, disbelief... Those who claim the most strongly to represent the mainstream view of QF Crew frequently behave on PPRuNe in a way thats brings considerable discredit on themselves, their union, their employer and their profession.

So, what next? Well, you're not going to be playing in our house anymore: You've made a mess, upset the guests and eaten all the jelly and we never invited you in the first place...

Well, from now on, you're in the Dunnunda & Godzone forums, where there are people who appear to be more able to tolerate what most of you regard as some sort of bluff, robust and forthright Aussie language, and the rest of the world regards as simple bloody rudeness and immaturity. God, I've wanted to say that for ages, and it feels really good!!!

No more politics or QF bashing or bitching/moaning in here. Zero Tolerance: Those who do get immediate bans.

End of story.
