Hey everyone,
Just wanting some info on 'CC' (m a c air) from any current or previous employees. I maybe moving to Magnetic Island off Townsville and want to continue flying. Im currently Cabin Crew based in Melbourne, but just not sure how I would go commuting. Any info would be great.

I was cabin crew based in tsv for a while. (not with m a c a i r).
I had a friend who lived a lot of the time on magnetic island - the ferry service is pretty regular, and she didnt seem to have too much trouble getting to work... The only times it got tricky was call outs if it was late or very early.
The m a c a i r girls seemed to be pretty happy. Pretty close knit group i heard. Worked with one girl who used to work there, she seemed to enjoy it.
They were going to get the saab2000, dont know what ever happened there though. Other rumours have them being taken over by Rex, or expanding their saab 340 fleet and competing with qf, etc... rumours of course.
Good luck. They prob not recruiting atm, but Alliance is fun to work with. The tsv base is a good bunch and the flying is a lot of fun.

I have been a flight attendant for 5 years, currently not flying
. This was not my choice of course.. I left my permanent flying job for an 11 month contract with QF, hoping of course that if I did the right thing, dotted my "i's" crossed my "t's" QF may keep me on after the contract. Unfortunately this was not meant to be..In 11months I had 1 sick day! Now, I think thats a pretty good effort when you are flying Long Haul.
I have recently been exposed to PPRUNE and I think it's a great website for crew to come and let out their concerns, frustrations, opinions etc about their flying lives, however I seem to notice so many F/A's who constantly are complaining, whinging, crying.. Too many negative and hardly any positive. Gosh this website would be a contraceptive for people who have always dreamt of becoming a Flight Attendant, they wouldn't want to be one after reading PPRUNE!!
I work in an office now or should I say a cage! 9-5, Monday to Friday...need I say more...
I would do anything now to be in your shoes..you really don't have it that bad..I would kill to have one more overnight! Even if it is at the Bonaventure! (Great shoe store in that hotel! I have my many stilletos as memories!)

I know there are many low sides to the job, but please, those of you who have not worked out in the real world..well let me tell you, it's not staying in 5 star hotels, it's not lying by the pool in Singapore having a gorgeous cocktail, its not walking down Hollywood BLV etc. The saying is so true
