I used to do the shuttle to Inverness regularly and got to know the CC quite well. Nice bunch. On one particular trip, I was talking to one of the ladies who told me that her mobile was missing - she swore that she had it in the crew lounge prior to departure.

I asked her for the number [honest, just to help] and with her permission rang it as we taxyed in. Sure enough, a ringing was heard from a low-life a couple of seats in front. He came up with all sorts of excuses, mistakenly picked it up thinking it was his, etc.

Disembarkation was delayed until a large Scottish policeman escorted the thug off the ac. On subsequent trips, got the odd complimentary bottle of wine...

CC work incredibly hard for their money and the vast majority of them are lovely people. Pity they get tarred with the brush used to paint the odd bad apple. Glad to lend a helping hand any time...

DVD players

It is too sad the world we live in nowadays - must say it saddens me to think how much of a nice trusting person I was before I started this job!!

Seen and heard too many things now to go back to that - but I do like to still try and give the benefit of the doubt - after 9 years it seems to get harder every year!

One pax even tried to take on of our DVD players off with him after one of the crew offered him it as a recovery item as the IFE was down - his reaction to this kind offer was to place it in his bag when he had finished watching it! Only because our paperwork system works were we able to show him it had not been collected in - he got all embarrassed and said he would look for it the crew member stood her ground (politely) and yes he found it - in his rucksack!

I had my mobile stolen from my hotel room just last week by the cleaners/hotel staff I presume - called new york and emailed but no reply! A friend of mine even had his trainers taken from his hotel room - so how can you keep everything locked away?

Lets just pity those who steal from us - I personally find Kharma usually has a way to evening things out in the end!!

You're exactly right.

Once a pax left a Cartier watch he'd bought in tax free shopping and left it in the first class cabin.

When i went back to search it, a cleaner had it and was actually writing it down in a log book they have and bagging it up to be sent to our baggage department!

I've heard of bits of uniform going walkies, purses, drink, sealtbelts, lifejackets, mobile phones etc. Basically, if it is not nailed down, some light fingered git will nick it before long. However, one unlucky bunch of cleaners got tumbled when we realised that somebody's mobile phone had been gone walkabout. We dialed it before they could take the battery out and bugger me, it rang in the cab of their van! Either they stole it is telekenesis is a fact of life.
