Peanut Pusher;
Thanks for your update; it’s good to see you back.

You didn’t really think that the company would actually buy a system that is actually working and has had all the bugs in the software worked out. If they buy a system that has not been trialled they actually get it free for the first 12 months so that we work out all the bugs and annoy the daylights out of our customers. QF’s new motto .... “yesterdays technology tomorrow…”

Well, the company must love crew from home in LHR because they are advertising here for the old dart .Hey Peanut , is it true that a number of crew on the LHR base have contracted scurvy because they cannot afford or find fresh veggies or salad up there….. ahhh The UK in winter !!!!!!!!

There are a number of people here that I think should go up your way…Bob the builder aka MS aka corridor cruiser…and a couple of other CSM’s…CB aka compactor christer…and KB aka colostomy Kel and I’m sure of a few others….

PS It’s 23rd Nov and still no vote, maybe we could get the company’s media department (the FAAA)’s 3 sisters and their best friend Kylie to go for the base as well….

speedbirdhouse,

yes i did vote in the last eba and voted no. Hope that clears that up.

Westozflyer,

if you want to "report" (aka dob) in any crew who deviate from procedure, standards etc then good luck to you. You must be a miserable person. I'm sure even your longhaul buddies agree.

Sydney S/H ,

I’m sure that if your base was closed and you had to work with the people that voted as a group to do your work ,you would not be overly happy or impressed with them.So I’m sure if you put yourself in westozflyer’s shoes you will understand his/her situation or at least I would hope you would.

To show that this is just not a L/H bagging S/H issue, the other day I turned up at the staff shuttle bus stop outside the domestic credit union office. There were a number of shorthaul crew waiting apparently for home transport and I asked them how long they had been waiting and if they had seen the shuttle bus leave. In other words ,I was trying to get an idea of when the next bus would be there.By their reaction, you would have thought I was their mortal enemy or I had just asked them for a loan of $100.it was obvious that I was L/H crew by my suitcase and other bags.I would have got a better response from the seat bench, it was if they had better things to do than help someone else.
As a friend of mine who transferred to S/H and was asked what the flying is like said , “it is a good job as long as you don’t mention L/H”

so what is new about that lower, I'm surprised that they did not start flicking their pony tails at you.
This is a clear example of how petty they as a group can be, what astounds me is that we have done absolutely nothing to them and yet they have the nerve to be sh1tty to us!
This new EBA for shorthaul will be monumental in its betrayal for flight attendants working conditions.
On another note, my friend in HR has told me that no one wants to transfer to s/haul due to bands and flying type, they are paid more staying at long haul and doing short trips.
Another example of how they shot themselves in the foot.

And they call US, " the darkside".

You've got to laugh......

As an aside, does anyone know what makes our domestics so special that they dont need to recieve allowance overseas comensurate witht he cost of feeding oneself in hotel they are staying in?

We get them, the pilots driving them get them,
other carrier's crews get them [most at a rate FAR higher than QF Longhaul].

I'm pretty sure that even VISITORS get them when on overseas junkets!!

Talk about creating the precedent that puts downward pressure on ALL FA's conditions!!

What was the win for that stupidity??

SIN-DRW-ADL-SYD.

I don't get it???

BTW we don't have a name for shorthaul but if we did surely it would be "romper room".

***************

peanutpuncher,

still got 20 cabin crew [5 more than Australian based crew] operating to and from BKK on the 2?

I suppose that gives you enough THAIS so that they can do the WHOLE service??

If the turnover of crew at the LHR base is so low then why are they advertising for more Australian based crew to go there?

If the sick leave is so low why are the Thai based crew still in LHR doing 5 day standbys and have also been told to expect major disruptions to their roster over the Xmas period??

Anyway I think this article in the London based Financial Times sums in all up. There’s noting like an independent point of view to put the facts straight.

At the time of filing this copy, it's now somewhere between Wednesday and Thursday and I believe I'm on the Qantas QF1 to London. The reason I'm unsure is that there's barely an Australian crew member in sight.
The back of the aircraft seems to be manned by Thai crew and First and Business by English flight attendants. The experience doesn't feel very Qantas - more a set of disconnected people working on a 747-400 that's the flag carrier for a country they have no relationship with. No doubt there are some short-term cost-savings, but for me, who's been around the world in a week, I'd like to know exactly where I am and who I'm flying with. Qantas's finance department might be seeing an upside, but I'm only seeing brand erosion.

add surveys

interestingly since the lhr base is driven by surveys and they are given to some hand picked csm's who return them personally back to the base. one can only assume what motives are behind such actions. rumors have it lots of bubbles and other goodies go with the surveys. as i mentioned before the punters still see a difference between the service. have to agree with peanut pusher the biggest letdown is the ife. just had that lovely video on demand which of course doesn't work and after a couple reboots even the csm gave up. apologies airways as usual. as long as the bonuses are ok managers dont have to face the punters and dont give a flying you know what.

SELLING SHARES

What a lot of dozeys...once the trading lock has been lifted, all you need do is to enlist the services of a Stockbroker. He/she will sell them at your price (if realistically akin to market price) or the going market price.

Brilliant Einstein, selling shares is not difficult even for someone like yourself, that’s the easy part. Finding out when you are able to sell is the trick part of the question. That’s why I was suggesting she calls people connect.

a superior return to shareholder

congats on your high share yield simon -looks like the off shore bases are literally paying dividends -at heart we're all little CEOs -there's just not enough room at the trough for all of us.

Thai crew have not had stand-by rosters for over 2 months, so I don't know who told you that but the sick leave has really dropped down.

Maybe the sick leave gang have used all there time off.

***ker@L5,

woo hoo, shares up 5% !!!!

Imagine how great it would be if Qantas shipped ALL its flight attendant jobs offshore.

Hell they might be up 10%!!

Thankfully the thinking people in our society can see beyond blind self interest.........

Mostie,

Share price won’t be up for long before it heads south again.GD will be furious that the market had the temerity to raise our share price.

GD is working on a new speech that will blow a hole in the price again as it always does when he shares(deliberate pun) his view of the world and how difficult Qf has it in this industry.Especially as the Engineers EBA is up for discussion and he will want to talk down any good news that they might try to use.

It would probably get under his skin if he thought some staff might actually make a nice sum from selling their shares
