Hi Ozcabincrew, Can I just say I agree with you 100%......There are far too many QF Uk crew bitching and whinging. I had my interview this past Monday, and now just waiting too hear if I have the job. There are people like myself cannot wait too return to flying. I just wish those who don't like it, get out and make space for those of us wanting the job.

OZ & PMB, agree with you totally..

it's a disgrace that QF have shipped these jobs offshore, for people who in some cases couldn't give a s%#$ about Australia or the airline's image (what's left of it, that is... )

I'm sur ethere are some fab crew working for them but all we hear is the bitching and moaning... no one forced you to take the job, guys!! Beforeyou bitch about the job come to Oz and see how hard it is to get aviation jobs here... ask any of the AUssies who got flying jobs in the last year who they got jobs with and i can assure you that most would be working overseas and not at home!!

Be glad that you got opportunities that we didn't and can actually stay in your home country AND have a flying job...

thanks guys,

i just get frustrated, because there are so many people who would love to fly and have tried so many times to get in and just keep getting rejected, yet they'd be better than heaps of the people alredy flying! We have a great job (even though conditions are changing and i don't agree with a lot of things going on) but we still have a great job, which is well paid and is relatively easy, what are you all complaining about? go and do a 12 hour shift in a factory or something and then see how lucky you are. There are too many pre-madonnas around, get back down to earth and get a reality check. The problem is that these whingers are miserable in the cabin to passengers, but they're just as miserable to work with. If this is you, i really urge you to leave!

Here we go again !!!!!

This is yet another QF Thread that has turned negative.....

Cant we just have some positive upbeat comments for a change -On the last thread so many bitchy people its really boring. The stuff I have just read above is just a copy of what was on the other QF thread !!!!!!.......

My advice is if you dont like then get out !! - I have just finished my training with QF UK and I am bowled over by the whole set up the fantastic training and support we get....

Whilst I understand our Aussie colleagues are a little miffed that a QF base here in the UK has opened I think its time to move on and let everyone get on with their jobs/careers etc......

For you Brits who dont like it there are dozens of airlines recruiting here in the Uk right now so leave and go join them.

Aussies....I have lost count the number of Aussies working for Uk airlines BA and all the others - Come over and join them why dont ya - Or even better come and join QF its a great once your in lol ;-)

I am so proud that I was accepted and I will wholeheartedly give it my all.....My mates that are already working for QF UK love it and have been happy since the start and the salary above is baloni ! - much more to be had if you work hard enough......

Good luck to all you that have completed your interviews.

wan2fly,

Good on you, i'm glad someone has some enthusiasm, obviously tow-truck is one of those disengaged people and will always stay like that. Don't let miserable people like that get to you. I agree, get over the LHR base, but what i'm saying is, the Brits that have been recruited shouldn't whinge, because there's lots of Aussies that would've taken the opportunity, instead it went to them, so..... if you don't like it, get out!

tow-truck, shame on you for trying to shadow someones enthusiasm etc with your miserable negative comments. "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all". Just because you're "disengaged", doesn't mean the next person will be. There are a lot of people which don't agree with what management are doing but are still engaged and manage to go to work, do what they get paid to do well and enjoy what they do. I honestly feel sorry for people like you.

This thread is for those wishing to discuss and ask questions about QANTAS in the UK. For the industrial relations aspects of the base there is the EBA & IR Issues in Australia (Not for those easily offended!) thread, where abuse, lack of thought, lack of consideration, intolerance, bad manners and an almost total absence of verifiable facts are considered the normal methods of communication.

If people wish to talk about QF @ LHR the have right to do so without being abused and heckled, and on this thread they can do so. Those ignoring this warning will have their posts deleted and their forum access removed

tow-truck will no longer be joining us here...

ello guys

I didnt see Tow Trucks reply to my post no doubt it was a negative one...

Thanks Moderator - This should be for QF UK only ! I made some posts in the main QF thread and was told that I wasn't welcome and that if I was seen in my blue pass down route that I would be ignored ! - Yes I was dissappointed with that remark as well - but their problem not mine. We all work for the same airline and are striving for the same thing to ensure our customers choose to return to us over and over again. I have made the correct career choice and I know that dozens of UK crew feel the same I have never felt so welcome by the Aussie crew all really friendly and I had 3 Aussie on my course who have become mates and we all got on.

There are lots of decisions made by each and every airline in the world which the staff do not agree with, but lets face it they dont do them to cheese the staff off they are made to save millions of $ or £. No savings no changes = no airline no jobs ! Where would be then - we all have one of the most exciting and enjoyable jobs going so lets all get on with it and each other I hope... :-)

My god I could be a politician !

Come back here in 6 months and let us know if you still feel the same.

Appears Qantas are still sending those 'rose coloured' glasses out with their training pack.

Hi everyone.......I was told on Friday that I didn't get the job with Qantas Uk. I've been reading some of the negative comments, and I have to say. If you don't like it then its time to get out, and give people like myself a chance. I have to wait until the next time Qantas start looking for more crew.

Wan2fly, definitely agree with all the comments re: importance of positive attitudes etc, but am curious......I was under the impression that all the UK airlines (QF UK included) require you to have a UK passport to work for them - I would love to go over there to be one of the many aussies working for those airlines, but is it possible for those of us unlucky enough not to have ancestry???

Am wondering the same thing, I have access to an ancestry visa which would give me 4 years and then the right to apply for PR ... I know this is not sufficient for BA who require an EU passport but anyone know if this is ok for QFUK (???) ... the website asks only for "the right to work and live in the UK" ... hmmmm ... too hard to get a job here in oz so one has to broaden the horizons ...

Hi sailorgal and resboy

Well, don't be dismayed, I have known many Aussies, and still meeting them every day in my job who have come over here on the two year working visa. They have had to return home after the two years but airlines will take you even though you are here for a short amount of time.

Unfortunately I was brought over here at nine and would love to give you my airline job here in the UK so I can return home to Oz and take yours!!

Good luck and go for the two year working visa....

Love GFW x

Sailorgal & Resboy

Sadly Sailorgal you would find it more difficult to be recruited by QCCUK on a 2 year working visa. The standard seems to be a visa with at least 4 years validity or an EU passport. The exception to this is if you are transferring to the UK from Qantas Airways.

Resboy on the other hand - your visa is perfectly acceptable for recruitment by QCCUK. A lot of the locally recruited crew (the ones who didn't fly for Qantas in Australia) have ancestry visas.

Lemme know if you want more info.

I know that QFCCUK don't get sectors to Australia in general, but do they ever? What are the possibilities of transferring to mainline in Oz?

Going for an EK interview on Saturday! Wish me luck!!!

Ah..........no and none.

No you wont be going to Australia and no you won't be able to transfer to mainline.

QFUK's existence is to avoid need to employ Australian based longhaul FAs. Transfering would defeat this purpose.

The same applies to Qantas's AKL and BKK base.

Qantas- Where bonuses are EVERYTHING.

BTW, good luck with EK.............
