I've been using this forum since 1998. There is always one winner when this topic arises.

ANSETT AUSTRALIA

It was simply the best.

BA and QF get my vote for the best. VS isn't too far behind either.

I think the EK guys uniform is a bit yukkish - Blue double breasted blazer and beige slacks? Are you going to a yacht club?

The DJ uniform is quite comfy to wear, and don't look half bad either. Though, keeping my shirt from un-tucking itself is difficult.

ozjet uniforms

hey guys,
have seen the OZjet uniforms. cant give too much away but I can say they are classic and have a touch of Europe. i guess to go with the logo 'you're in business' you can imagine that they wont be polo tops.

Titan have a pretty smart outfit, for both sexes. Ever so slightly reminiscent of a high class tailored suit.

Easyjet's is fine. Casual image suits the company's public image, although the old 'shiny' orange blouses and shirts were absolutely minging.

Hapag Lloyd Express. Nice combination of striking yellow and black. And boy, are those blouses tight! I'm off for a cold shower.

Worst by a country mile is Austrian Arrows (or is it Tyrolean?). Looks like a bad trip on acid, and the cabin interiors make me want to vomit - or has someone already done that? All that seems to be missing is the flight deck in Lederhosen and some Alp horns.

Ryanair's female outfit is pretty pants. Horrible shade of blue, and too much of it. Screams cheap and nasty. Maybe it's meant to.

you might all hate the easy uniform, but notice how airlinesw are following suit and changing their uniforms to the same mix and match style eg. brittannia, thomas cook, first choice with the open neck culture, bmi baby etc

Well, call me biased but I love my BA Julien Mc Donald number. Pinstripes, flashy red lining and cool bling tie pin!!!! Once you get over the fact that your wearing a stylish design made out of the cheapest material it really looks smart, especially after our old uniform!!!
Must admit though, I think Virgin is fab and I only hope the new uniform will be as nice. I also love the Aer Lingus uniform, I mean lets face it, i they made a green uniform make people look well! However it does need revising and I hope they dont go down the loco route of trousers and t-shirts as had been rumoured!
I also like Thomas Cook, Etihad, EK and Cityjet.
However, Easy...yuck, Niki...oh those poor soles, most of the US carriers...they look like they should be sitting in a retirement home!!!

I hate my DJ uniform. The shirt has no style to it - and the pants - well I'm sure they reduce my fertility count. The colour of the trousers is so impracticale for the work we do, and the Dina Corporate quality is shocking. The shirts feel like an old bed sheet after 2-3 washes and as for those jumpers - red looks stupid on the guys and the stupid things shrink beyond belief.

and those high vis vests are starting to look REALLY tatty. Has anyone noticed you can only wash them a maximum of 5 times!! Whats with that?

the only decent part of the uniform is the shoes and the overcoat!

Time for an overhaul if you ask me.

blue_stew, I'm thinking red shirt dress for the girls (kind of fitted like the trench but a dress version) with the coat as beige... and maybe somehow bring the 'blue' part in... maybe blue jumpers for the boys and red for the girls?? I think the red looks ok on the girls. Not all of the guys suit it though.

I've forgotten which airline it was, but i once saw a pic where the uniforms weren't that great, but the crew had these fab black carry-on bags with hot pink piping/trim... now that is brave colour choices!!!

High Flying, I noticed that on a flight once! All the girls kept tucking in their shirts all the time.... I thought it was quite funny as I have that problem too, even with a belt... it's hard to keep fairly neat when lifting bags and bending to pick things up and so forth....

OzJet... can't wait to see what they'll be wearing...

Ozjet Uniform

Seen the uniform, the interviewers (at least two of them M + F) were wearing them, they are of course conservative business style navy with white blouse/shirt, the female one looked quite smart (pencil skirt at the knee etc) it had a silver metal O that was the eye for the mid torso clasp on the jacket. Pretty much what you'd see coming out the door of a uptown law firm really.

Skista.
Do you recall the TAA blouse (I\'m not assuming you do of course, I am talking mid last century) it clasped with press studs at the crotch to stop the o/head locker creep! Must have been such a relief to undo it after 4 legs! And what about the metal around a sensitive area? Would be suing for toxic shock these days.

The Ansett Unif was style personified! I used to share with a chick that would call her flying buddy before sign on. \'So Victoria! Is it spots or stripes today\' Still makes me chuckle when I think of her \'cause she was SERIOUS!

ricci, haven't seen it myself but was told about it once. Sounds like those all-in-one jumpsuit things that were popular in the 80's!!! Can imagine it wouldn't be too comfy after awhile!! Though I guess what else could you do to stop the locker creep?? Snaps on the waistline wouldn't work either as that's where it pulls.... oh well, I guess doing the "tuck-in salsa" will be around for a while yet!!

The good thing about the An uniform was, at least it stuck around with the Skywest girls. No, no more, as they hav moved on to retro sky blue and navy designed by some Tafe fashion students...

It used to be very cool to see the AN girls with the hats on and all the Japanese tourists taking photos of them...!

I was just looking at a site about a US memorabilia collection, it seems a LOT of the early uniforms were all blue!!! (With the exception of a few tan/brown numbers....)

Blue

Must have had something to do with being in the sky or airforce influence perhaps! Who knows? I do know that many of the early uniforms had a very military look to them (caps on the boys etc).

Ah yes. Or maybe they just had LOTS of leftover fabric!!!

I do recall something about pilots' uniforms being modelled on those of ships' captains, to instill confidence in flying.... (did they forget about the Titanic, then? )

I must say I luuuuurv the new BA uniform too, such a step up from the previous "look", although I think someone took a leaf out of the QF book in designing the BA one ... are we really that close with BA now???? lol

QF one is good but shirts go yellow if they dry in the sun too often and my suit refuses to get rid of its 'shine' no matter how often i get it dry cleaned. Other than that I think I look quite spunky in it tee-hehehe

I like Air New Zealand. Shame it is changing at the end of the year, but who knows, it could even be better.
