Tri,

What was the rumour I heard about you sticking a cassette of Top Gun's Soundtrack into the jet's tapedeck!!??

Anything's got to be better than our suicidal elevator music!

Quality my friend!

Reading this thread reminds me how happy I am that we do not have any boarding music on our 737s.
Most airports we fly to don't allow the APU until engine start either, so we lack even TightSlots sad strains.

Silence is Golden..... was it the Tremeloes?

I was sitting down the other day waiting for ground crew so we could give them the 'ok' to board and I remarked to one of my crew how great it was that our airline doesn't play any Christmas songs. Well .... i opened my mouth too soon on that one because straight away we heard "I saw mummy kissing Santa Clause" comming out of the speakers. NNNoooooooo.

Well now it seems that every second or third song is a Christmas carol. Mixed in nicely with some 'Top 40' songs.

Well I think the airline I work for has the best boarding music!
WHY?
Because every month I do up the tapes!

Generally, I try and have a slower side, and a faster side.
I do up new tapes every month, so the aircraft generally dosent go 2 weeks without a change...

sinala1... The nasty person who put Kasey Chambers on yours must have hated Flight Attendants or something... There was another Kasey Chambers song on not so long ago...

I do have a 'SPECIAL' tape, which I play on 'SPECIAL' occasions, particularly turnarounds:
(and yes, for real, I do this)...

Achey Breakey Heart - Billy Ray Cyrus
Itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini
Shoop Shoop Song - Cher
Macarena - Los Del Mar
The Chicken Dance
Nutbush
Footloose
and some Yo Ho Pirate song from a movie...

Nothing like cleaning the plane, screaming randomly at other crew like a pirate? Anyone else do this?? GAR!

I have a mix of old and new stuff, as far back as Bay City Rollers, up to stuff thats not even out in the stores yet...

I did have Franks Come fly with me, and fly me to the moon on there once. The oldies loved it...

It has only been playing for a few weeks but I'm already over Sheryl Crow, The Corrs and some song that Marty sang on Australian Idol??

But its better than no boarding music at all. Especially for bad crew singalongs on turnarounds. Now who can sing the loudest and most out of tune.....

".....are you strong enough to be my man? LIIIEEEEE TO MEEEEEEEEE....."

ooopps I think its me!

PS thecaptainissecure i think you should come and work for us!

Sky hi

Not really sure who you work for... but ok! Sounds like fun!

I got caught singing the other day...

Best friend/colleague says to me 'Hey, were you singing in the galley before?'
I reply, 'maybe'...
She says 'Oh, cause I was down at row 3, and I heard this crazy murmuring and mumbling - I thought the guy in row one was having another seizure'...

So much for my rendition of 'Build me up buttercup'??

Boarded a virgin flight one night in darwin, lovely FA down the back didnt realise boarding has commenced, and was singing away on PA 'your song - elton john'

I got caught out by engineers doing the same thing, but to a slightly more embarrasing Olivia Newton Johns 'I honestly love you'...

Who has the best cabin dance?

I know a girl who does a fantastic 'Footloose', swings off the seats, and overhead lockers and all...

One trick my trainer taught me was that a bulkhead corner or curtain makes a fantastic supplement for a pole when trying to pole dance. My lapdancing skills however almost broke someones legs... Will have to practice that one.

I so need to find a better hobby on my day off...

I remember last time I flew DJ, the song they had on during taxi (right before the demo) was 'Superstar' by jamelia.... all I could think of was the ad for the Sony Singstar where the guy tips the water on himself....
SkySista thats hilarious - I loved that commerical! Used to p*ss myself laughing whenever I saw it, meanwhile anyone else who was in the room at the same time would back out very, very slowly, not taking their eyes off me in case I made any form of sudden movement...

QF Skywalker ha ha the first time I ever heard that song was on a CNS overnight! It was 0400, I had just gotten up to get ready for some horrendously long day, flicked on the tv and that song was on! Oh and I will be up CNS way shortly, definately have to catch up for a few coldies!

Hmmm I think the one song that I will never get sick of, which is on some of our aircraft that have a digitally stored boarding music system as opposed to cassette tape, would be Can't Get You Outta My Head by Kylie - that song will never die! That system also has Rock DJ by Robbie, another favourite....

OMG! This thread has made me laugh soooo much - keep 'em coming guys!!!

Sinala, I was the same with that ad, it just made me laugh so much, my family thought I was mad! I reckon it ranks up with the Hahn spa ad (you know, the "what?!" one, as well as the pool one, that's a classic!

Whoever chose Kasey Chambers should be shot, I know some people like her but I can't stand her whingey, whiney singing! She was in Perth for a Bali bombing tribute thing, and I'm sorry, but I dont think her singing gave the event the dignity it deserved...

ahem... /rant.....

I think it'd be cool to have 'Come Fly With Me' as the background music to the safety demo....

I wonder if they'll be playing "I STill Call Australia Home" on the QF UK routes? (...just jokes, not starting that up again.... )

That guy is a CHAMPION!!!! hahahaha it also ranks up there with the Yellow Pages ad - (you all know it) "*NOT* - Happy - Jan!!!"

As far as boarding music that makes you want to take your badge off and poke yourself in the eye with the sharp pointy bit... hmmm... definately would have to say "Cry Me A River" by Justin Timberlake - anyone who has heard the very beginning part of that song with the guy making those never ending grotesquely modulated "meeeeeee" noises would understand my point - and we had it for about 4 months!

Not quite boarding music, but....

I used to work in a retail clothing store. ANyway, every month or so we were sent a tape from this Marketing Melodies co (probably the same lot that do the tapes for Aus airlines by the sounds of it)

Anyway, by the end of the week we were all mental and sick of the songs... I think none of us actually listened to our car radio any more. The funny thing was, we'd all start singing the next song before it even came on - complete with our company jngle in between tracks!!

The truly enraging part is that other big chains such as Katies, Sussans etc etc got the same tapes we did - so shopping for clothes became a huge huge nightmare, as I'd be unable to control my 'singing along urges' and betting the girls which song'd be next!!! Argggh! I'm still in therapy for it!! Some of the songs were those really really anoying Britney/Avril/Christina ones too..... and don't get me started on the "Christmas remakes" travesty!!

That Hahn ad... they used to show the girl throwing soap at the guy and hitting him in the forehead... what happened? They dont show it any more... that was the best part!!!

I can remember a few years back at Qantas we had;

"Wind beneath my wings." Bette Middler
"In the Arms of the Angels" Sarah Mcglaughlin

Currently, our music is at its worst. We have about 4 channels to choose from and they all crap. And our 767s leased from BA had the traditional BA classical but thats been changed and one of the songs is Bryan Adams "Summer of 69." Goes down real well at 6am

Oh and if I hear Snorah Jones once more ill scream

Captainissecure, I work at JQ

TSSOV, I agree, where is ditz? He is bound to have an opinion on this subject!

Maybe our boarding music is not worthy of a mention, we do have a bit of Snorah Jones (Thanks Bodum) and that "Accidentally in love" song.....doing my head in

But all great songs to sing to when you feel like making an arse of yourself

Until Ditz is released from his earlies (poor pet), I'll enlighten you all on the QantasLink/Jetstar boarding music routines...

At JQ, we've just started to get boarding music on the 717's and the SALE A320's...not too bad a collection currently (Summer Sunshine by the Corrs is REALLY beginning to pee me off!)

I have vivid memories, however, of one day on the 717 during QantasLink when there was a tape that was meant to be in the deck for 2 months (and instead, languished for 4 months, punishing all crew during turnarounds)...

I can't for the life of me remember the song, only that it was the most annoying piece of music ever played in a cabin.

Anyway...everything came to a head. I stomped up to the tape deck, took the tape out, handed the magnetic tape part of the cassette to a fellow crew member, and went SCREAMING LIKE A BANSHEE from one end of the cabin and back again, dragging behind me metres of magnetic tape.

"Whoops...guess the tape deck chewed it up. INTO THE BIN!"

Very cleansing. The other crew looked at me like I was mad. The Tech Crew thanked me for it.

That is too funny!!! One of our oft-plyed (and extremely annoying) tapes went "missing" behind the back of the cash register drawer, and come Dec 26th, the Christmas tape mysteriously vanished into thin air!!!

And of course, happiness reigned supreme whenever we heard that awful scratchy, screeching noise over the speakers that meant yet another tape had met its electronic doom

As for boarding music, I don't really mind what it is when paxing, unless of course it happens to be Jamelia, in which case I'm sure the crew doing the demo will mind very much!!

Qwannas ? The dancing Queen ?

Most QantasLink DH8's are fitted with CD players for playing the safety annoucement and also for boarding music. I remember a memo coming out saying crew are not to use their own cd's in the player after an incident where passengers complained that on boarding the aircraft ex a regional port that they were blasted to the sounds of ABBA - " MONEY MONEY MONEY "

I can just imagine it - how hilarious !

Rumous has it our good pprune friend "Qwannas"may have been behind this ?
