Britannia/ThomsonFly - The Recruitment Thread
Hello All,
I am in the process of interview for BY to be based at NCL next year, I was wondering if there are any people who work at NCL or who have worked there in the past can let me know what it's like i.e people, managers etc
Also what are the rosta's like compared to MAN?
Hope to hear from you soon.
Thanks,
Stu

Hi Stu
I did two seasons with Britannia based at Manchester but I had a 3 day trip to Newcastle to operate a few flights and the crew were fantastic. MAN is a very friendly base and it is always slightly worrying when you are sent to another base by yourself but the NCL crew really put me at my ease - the most friendly, genuine and positive crew you could hope to work with. It is a small base with a great atmosphere and people really seem to look out for each other. It can take longer to get a permanent contract at the smaller bases but sometimes you are offered the chance to work at LGW for the winter.
If you need any help or advice let me know.
Good Luck

AtlanticAngel,
Thank you for your reply!
Curious about what you say bout working the winter in LGW - what would happen in the instance, do BY expect you to move to LGW or do you position there for your flights?

Hi Stu
Britannia no longer offer split base winter contracts so this is no opportunity for crew to work out of say MAN or LGW just for the winter. You could do the summer at NCL and request to transfer to LGW and then you may be offered a perm contract at LGW. This year no one was offered perm contracts at NCL and they have 4th year rejoiners waiting.........
Good luck at NCL - it is a great base and the crew are superb!

The only bases to offer perm contracts at the end of Oct were MAN, LGW and BHX - despite busy winter schedules so there are many disappointed people at some of the smaller bases - especially as they weren't offered the chance to transfer.....
From what I understand there are no new routes for NCL next season - in fact there are less. More flights from MME.
If you want to know anything else then feel free to PM me.

Britannia (again)
Hi, sorry for creating yet another thread on the Britannia open days
I'm going to go to the one at Nottingham east midlands (in retrospect I should have just gone to MAN but there ya go)
anyhoo, from what I can gather the Britannia Training centre (where the open day is being held) isn't in Nottingham east midlands airport
Does anyone or could anyone direct me as to where to go? I'm coming down on the train
I'd really appreciate any help

The Britannia Training Centre is (unless it has been moved) right next to East Midlands Airport - i.e a 2 or 3 minute walk. It is possible to get a bus from Nottingham to the airport and then walk from there.
Hope this helps

BY Open Day at EMA - 17/11/04
Hi Guys and Gals
Just wanted to say that Ive been at the BY open day today at EMA.
There were over 147 people who showed up, and alot were very succesfull in getting to the interview stage.
I was one of the lucky ones who had my interview today, dead easy questions all about customer service and had to give examples of what I had/would do in a situation.
Have been told I will hear from them within the next 2 weeks.
Let me know how you all get on

Would have loved to have gone if only for the experience - what did the tests involve? E.g., did the maths test include simple maths or did they truly 'test you' to the limits? What did you have to do for the group tests?
Hope you get something you like soon

Yes I remember you anyway
I think the final number that turned up was 117
